Gunnar
This almost escaped my calendar, but I saw the article on Shooting USA. Registration is working now and I just got done signing up. Changes my luggage plans, but I was going to be there anyway so this was perfect timing.
alma
Rule 1.2.1 Will light sticks be provided or available on site? I saw shooters with light sticks at other matches. What do you use them for?
CJW
I'm hoping to get four stages done on Thursday. That will leave us a bit extra for the shootoff and awards on Friday night after last shot fired. So we are looking at Friday night awards instead of Saturday night concurrent with the Magpul shoot? That's important to know, as it will save me a night of hotel! Edited September 16, 2015 by CJW
Gunnar
What is the farthest rifle target for this match?
Chuck Anderson
Light sticks are required to be worn by anyone in the shooting area on the front and the back of the belt. It's an added safety measure at night so we don't have to shine a big light down range and blind everyone to make sure we are clear down range. Light sticks will be provided to all competitors. We'll also have enough extra if you're bringing a spouse, caddy, gun bearer, shoulder to cry on. The furthest shot is around 200 or less. I want to say 170 ish but it might be a bit further. It will be possible to hit even if your light doesn't reach that far. Awards are Friday night after last shot fired. There won't be any Starlight related activities on Saturday. Last minute change I just found out about two days ago. Sorry.
sendit223
Besides the two light sticks they gave me as a shooter I put one on my cart. Easier to find! Sendit Edited September 16, 2015 by sendit223
Gunnar
Do the lights and laser have to be mounted on the weapon or can we use headlamps?
Chuck Anderson
On your person or gun lights. Headlamps are fine. Hand held lights as well. Just can't set up static lights and use them though.
Jesse Tischauser
Chuck, I see the stage descriptions online. Thank you for that. Will there be diagrams posted? I am trying to decide if I need the long dong 20 round shotgun tube this year. I hate to bring that unwieldy thing if I don't need it.
CJW
Well, I am as ready as I am going to be!
Chuck Anderson
Got a lot of set up done today. All the stages are roughed in now. We'll get the rest of the setup crew on site tomorrow and get this thing nailed down. Rained on us pretty good today but the weather report looks better as the week goes on. CJW
Chuck, will the zeroing range (Independence Range) at Peacemaker be available to us on Thursday afternoon?
Chuck Anderson
I'll check today but with all that's going on here I wouldn't count on it. Possible though.
Chuck Anderson
Talked to Cole. Independence range will be available for sight in. All competitors need to follow the usual public range rules. Chamber flags, cases all that stuff Also the range is requiring chamber flags for all long guns. I know it's short notice. If you have them, bring them. If you already left or don't have them we should have some available here.
Chuck Anderson
In case anyone needs chamber flags, Gunnar An from JP Rifles is bringing a couple hundred. If you need them he'll be at the shooters meeting. He's also shooting the WSC so he'll be around if you wanted to pick them up earlier.
Gunnar
I am also working Stage 10 for WSC so if you are that far out for some reason or shooting it, I should have it on site.
alma
The match has been a lot of fun so far. I have never been to a 3 Gun Match that has a live band playing at it. Here is some video from Stage 2. Coming from shooting Production division I might get a little carried away when I am allowed to use my 45 round PMAG. Uber
Holy cow, what a cool idea and presentation. Thank you to Jim, Chuck, Travis and all the other staff for making it happen! See yall at the next one!
CJW
I had an absolute blast at this match. Outside of a little bit of flashlight and pistol practice, this is really the first time I have tried night shooting; I haven't had this much fun shooting since the first 3-Gun match I did. Chuck, thanks so much for putting this on, and I can't wait to do it again. Also, kudos to Timney for their support; it's going to feel wrong the next time I shoot a match and there's no band playing! Oh, and that prize table would have been impressive for a match twice the size.
sendit223
I left an extended Glock mag on stage 5 on the first night if anyone found it. "GAS" is written on the side in silver sharpie. Thanks. Steve
Chuck Anderson
I let AJ at the range know. We didn't have any gear turned in and I didn't see it during tear down.
alma
I think I also left a magazine. Perhaps on Stage 3 on the first night. It's a SIG P320 mag with a TF 140mm extension.
