Sandbagger123
when checking out a 1911 o 2011, how much slide to frame movement would be acceptable?
BrianATL
If the gun is accurate its not that big of a deal.
bountyhunter
If the gun is accurate its not that big of a deal. +1 Accuracy is mostly a result of how tightly and consitently the barrel locks into the slide, not how tightly the slide fits to the frame. Dranoel
Sloppy slide to frame fit does not effect accuracy much. It DOES however effect reliability and longevity. If the slide is rattling around on the frame every time you shoot it, there will be problems. Generally, if there is enough play that I can feel a distinct clicking when I shake the gun side to side, it's too much. If I can HEAR it clicking, forget it. shotgunone
I agree the slide to frame fit will have little affect on accuracy as long as the sights are mounted on the slide and the barrel consistantly locks up in the slide. If the sights are mounted off the slide, like on some open guns where the sight mount is attached to frame then a sloppy upper end fit to the lower could affect accuracy some. DagoRed
How do you check without firing one if it's fit well? I've bought my last for a while but would like to know what to look for. Thanks Red
jcc7x7
See if you can find a Dan Wesson at the local GS and ask to play with it. Generally they are very well fitted. that will give you a good idea of what a nice fit is BUT Like every body else has said! Most will shoot fine if the barrel locks up good
