Mr Bullet Feeder ordered

Recommended Posts

Just placed my order with Shooter's Connection this morning for one of these units in 9mm. I hope I'm as happy with it as most of you are that own them. There sure is a lot of helpful information on here and the videos on Double Alpha explain things pretty well too.

One question that I have... Will the Dillon 650 cover fit over MBF and the case feeder? Looks like it's kind of big attached to the side of the case feeder although the cover appears to have extra room in it.

I have a Super 1050 and it will not fit machine and Mr. Bullet.... I doubt if it will with the 650 either because they are made to the machine size specs. Give it a try, and if it does not then cover the machine, and put a plastic bag over the collator with the bullets. I think without a doubt this is my favorite Dillon add on. It just works great. Let us know if you need help.

Talk about fast shipping, ordered Mr Bullet Feeder yesterday morning and it's coming in the brown truck today! I enjoy buying stuff from Shooter's Connection, probably too much. It will be Thursday before I get a chance to install it but at least it will be waiting on me and not the other way around.

Looking forward to using it after reading all the comments and watching everyone's videos. Kind of a bummer about the cover not fitting. Never thought about pulling it off and putting it inside the case feeder. I'm sure we have an old pillow case somewhere, or at least it will be old once the wife sees it on the workbench.

Thanks for the comments.

Well, Mr Bullet Feeder arrived yesterday and when I got home from work last night I just couldn’t resist opening the box and looking at it, knowing I wouldn’t have time to install it until Thursday. One thing led to another and before I went to bed last night I had it installed and cycled around 100 bullets through the collator without the first failure. I loaded about 10 rounds with no primers or powder just to get a feel for it and all went perfect. I really like the powder funnel design, not much flare but it sure opens the case up perfectly for the bullet to sit nicely in the case as well as being tamped into it.

AND… To top it off the 650 cover will fit over both the MBF and the case feeder! Not exactly the custom fit look that it had before but at least it works. I’ll try and get some pictures posted of it Thursday. I think I’m really going to like this thing, can’t wait until I get a chance to load with it later this week.

What can I say but WOW! Only had 200 pieces of brass that were ready to load yesterday and it ran too fast! Actually I only had to adjust the dropper once because every 3rd or 4th round it would fail to drop a bullet. Once I got that adjusted everything was spot on. I only wish I had a thousand or so that were ready to load.

I did see where it would be more convenient to leave the powder in the powder measure (see other post out there). I'm one of those that always dump my powder back into the container. I figured out the best place to unhook MBF was at the brass weight so I could pull the tool head off and dump the powder.

And for those of you that don't think the Dillon cover will fit over the 650 with Mr Bullet Feeder, here is proof!

You will love it! Grab that old pillow case, and your good. I got the feeder after deciding not to upgrade to a 1050. Best move ever.

I'm thinking about a 1050 also but I think Mr Bullet Feeder will hold me a little longer. I currently have the 650 and 550 mounted to the bench but to be honest about the only time I run the 550 is for rifle or revolver ammo. I can't think of the last time I loaded rifle ammo. I think if/when I go to the 1050 I may sell the 550. Never tried rifle on the 650 but it sounds like a lot of guys on here do.

2 650's on does 223 and 308 and 45 when I need it, no bullet feeder

The other does 9 and 40 with the bullet feeder conversions. And of course you can run your press without the bullet feeder if you want. But once you use it, why would you want to?

Cowboy, don't pull the whole tool head off to dump powder! Just loosen two bolts and lift the measure out of the die. Poor in jug and then cycle the drop by hand 5-6 times until all powder is gone

When you reload, do you stick the completed rounds in the 100rd trays or big Tupperware devices and load as needed for matches and range time?

Anything I use for a match goes into the 100 round containers after they have been case gauged. If they don't pass the case gauge they go into Tupperware for practice. If I run a big batch I will put them into ammo boxes or larger Tupperware until they have been case gauged and placed into the 100 round containers.

Good idea Sarge. I'm so used to not having a bullet feeder I used to just pull the two pins and removed the whole tool head to dump the powder and blow everything out with compressed air. I'll have to try just removing the powder measure next time.

From everything I've read it does fine with the coated bullets. Some have complained about the lube on the lead bullets but I think even those will work. All I have ran are jacketed 9mm through mine so I don't have any first hand experiance.

Actually, I think the maker recommends NOT running lubed bullets through it. If you think about it, just think about all that gunk building up in the drop tube, spring, micro switch, etc... Not a good combo.

I never noticed on Mr Bullet Feeder's website instructions not to use cast bullets in fact this is listed under the FAQ;

If you are loading jacket bullets, you will seldom need to clean the system. Over time, a light coating (or patina) of copper will build up on the collator plate surface and slot walls and should be removed. This copper coating increases friction between the bullets and the slot walls and might begin to cause occasional collating errors. When you notice a significant build-up of this copper coating, clean your collator plate. Dont use any strong solvent that will interact with the PVC material that the plate is machined from. If you are loading cast lead moly-coated bullets, you will find that the moly film deposited on the collator plate is actually desirable and may be left on the plate. When using cast lead wax-lubed bullets, you will most likely need to clean more often. Wax may also build-up inside the dropper tube as well. We have found that a light coating of powdered mica applied to the bullets will greatly reduce the wax build-up and increase the interval between cleanings. Powdered mica is commonly available from shooting supply stores. Reloading in a relatively cool environment will keep the wax harder and will help a great deal. Although NO lubrication is required on your new bulletfeeder system, if you choose to lubricate to any of the components, we suggest a spray-on type dry Teflon film used sparingly.
