Carbon Arms Gas Hog

I know some people have been asking about the Gas Hog since it shipped. I almost went with the SJC Titan for my build. Really glad I waited for Mark's comp. She's soft, flat and stays on target. (As the Titan would have been.) But the comp is also light, not terribly loud or concussive and really unique and cool looking. I can't wait to give her her first run at the Crimson Trace Midnight 3-Gun match tonight!

Here's a quick video of a buddy of mine from Warne Scope Mounts giving it a try. He seemed to like it!

Honestly the gun seems to move around a lot more than I'd expect

I don't know what to tell you... it was his first time touching the gun. He doesn't shoot competitively. He's a hunter. Maybe the XR-795i electromagnetic stabilizing device that lets the rifle has zero movement was malfunctioning. I will keep working on it and testing it.

But for now, I like it. It ran like a sewing machine the first night at the Crimson Trace Midnight 3-gun match. So far everyone that's touched it has immediately said how soft and stable it is without being overly concussive. Just trying to put up a video for people to see the break in action.

Other upper parts are JP. LLMOS BCG, JP silent capture spring buffer.

And now I'm gonna go get more than 3 hours of sleep so I'm not so sarcastic. ;)

I'm not real concerned about concussion but the size, weight and looks are attractive to me. And Carbon Arms reputation for making useful products that work as advertised has me intrigued. And for some reason I choose to live in the self destructive state of Illinois so cans are a no go.

Thanks for spending my money, Tony. Sounds like it does what I would want it to do.

Perhaps I should just get a Stretch 16 barrel to go along with it! <ok just kidding>

I may splurge after I get a new hand guard. Current one drives me batty. That's priority one on my Open rifle.

[edited to add]

Oh dear God, the Miculek comp may be "effective" but it's very nasty for almost everyone. I've found them unpleasant from all angles. I'd hate to be on the trigger for one.

I had a Miculek on it before the GH, I really can't comment or compare performance between the two in detail because every aspect of my stance and technique got an overhaul about the time I put the GH on it. BUT, I don't get the dull headaches I used to after a high round count practice with the Miculek and people seem to like being in my vicinity while I'm shooting a lot more now.

Yeah but I live a hermits life and eat bugs to save money. I'm actually writing this on a computer in a house I broke into just to satisfy my gun porn/enos forum addiction.

Tony,

Is that gun, porn & Enos forum addiction?

Nope, just straight gun porn. At least that's what my wife calls it when I start drooling over the latest gear and gadgets.
