  1. Judging from your previous build it looks like you have a decent budget so I won't hold back on recommendations. There are two ways to build a light weight rifle these days; you can go the traditional skeletonized/less material route or you can build a rifle using high tech/super light weight materials. Both options will be light but the second will be much stronger and more durable. If it were me I'd start with a pair of V Seven receivers http://www.vsevenweaponsystems.com/collections/upper-parts/products/enlightened-2055-ar-15-receiver-set I would also use all V Seven titanium small parts and their enlightened rail. These parts are all stronger than traditional parts yet also lighter. In order to maintain high round count performance I'd look at a Proof Research carbon barrel (18" my preference but 16" is still a good choice). SLR rifleworks titanium Sentry gas block. JP lightweight internals. As far as optics I'd keep what you have if you like it but swap the mount to something lighter like a Warne SKEL mount or Geissele scope mount. This is what I would build if I wanted a lightweight top of the line 3-gun rifle. You could definitely build something close for cheaper.
  2. I set up my 9mm 2011 to lock back on empty. 23rds is plenty in my opinion and I want the slide to lock back if I happen to run empty on a star or spinner.
  3. Sounds like you have this barrel: http://shopwilsoncombat.com/mobile/Match-Grade-Barrel-556-NATO-Lightweight-16-1-7-Twist-Stainless/productinfo/TR%2D556LW16/ That barrel has a mid-length gas port therefore you will need a mid-length gas tube.
  4. Finished 2nd in Practical and would have been 1st if I hadn't forgot a mandatory reload on a classifier. So far I really like the Atlas. It's shoots very flat and isn't very loud/blasty compared to other brakes I've used. I haven't experimented with clocking or tuning the shroud but TDC seems to work pretty good for me.
  5. I'll be putting mine through its paces tomorrow at my first match of the year. I'll report back on its performance
  6. Anybody know where to find an Armalite M-15 muzzle brake in stock??
  7. Can anybody tell me how to get ahold of Mike? Can't find a website.
  8. Can anybody tell me how to get ahold of Mike? Can't find a website.
  9. Well I went with a CK arms frame and slide. I'm sure I'll be happy with these parts. I'm trying to build a "buy once cry once" 2011 and want to use the best parts I can afford.
  10. What gunsmiths are doing good work on the versamax? I'd like to get my loading port opened up, trigger job, Benelli parts swap, and different sights.
  11. I really like the screwless design of the AXTS Talon. I've had a screw back out on a BAD before.
  12. So I called Phoenix Trinity today to order a 2011 frame and learned that they no longer sell individual frames. They now have a minimum purchase number of 10. So that leaves me with CK Arms being that I want a Clark/Para ramp cut. Does CK build a comparable frame? Any issues running a SVI signature grip with the CK? Any insight would be very much appreciated.

  14. Who's running a zev dragonfly slide and what do you think? Is it worth the money?
  15. Check out the SLR Rifleworks Solo ultralite. I run the 16.5" mlok version and love it.
  16. I'll have one in hand shortly. I'm going to run the LCO/D-EVO combo at Ironman this year.
  17. I'm currently building a upper that is almost exactly what your after. Here's my parts list: -Battle Arms Development 16" lightrigid barrel -Battle Arms Development LW billet upper -All V7 small parts to complete upper -SLR Rifleworks 15" solo lite rail mlok -SLR Sentry 6 gas block -V7 titanium BCG -V7 Furion muzzle brake Definitely check out V7 and Battle Arms if your in the market for lightweight but strong parts.
  18. +1 on Senrty series gas blocks. I have two, one with a very high round count, and neither of them have seized on me. Todd over at SLR is awesome to deal with.
  19. Taran, put me on the list for your versamax upgrade package!
  20. SSS is the only thing going as far as tungsten rods for the M&P. I have one and the difference is slight but noticeable.
  21. I run 10-8's on all my M&P's (shield, 5" Pro, FS). I really like the .115 fiber optic front with the .125 rear notch. I prefer sights that favor accuracy.
  22. Is anyone here running the updated version of the SLP competition with the vent rib barrel? I have a few questions. -how does it run with lighter loads (1145fps) -is the loading port opened up from the factory? -what would you consider necessary mods for 3-gun? There isn't much info on this shotgun and what details I've found are vague. Any help would be much appreciated!
