SMS2 Posted July 22, 2014 Share Posted July 22, 2014 Hi, I'm looking for some solid references for Ion Bond refinishing. I have an 8 month old Akai in Ion Bond that looks like it was never shot. I have had a new top end made that I want Ion bonded to match the Ion Bond on the frame of the Akai and would be most grateful for some solid references to have this top end finished in Ion Bond. Also if you have any experience with cost and turn around time it would be most helpful, though the single most important issue is the quality of the finished job. polizei1 Posted July 23, 2014 Share Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) From my understanding, no one but IonBond actually applies the finish, so the finish will be applied by the company. The difference, is in the stripping and prep work. A lot of people recommend going through Springer Precision. I had mine sent through John Harrison, however I'm not sure if he accepts individual orders without a work order as well.
