Looking for opinions on best Hodgdon or Winchester powder for 38 super, Montana Gold 124 jhp, full-size 2011, no poppel holes.

Presently using IMR SR-4756. This works very well in both of my open guns. Hodgdon is discontinuing this powder in 2014.

I have a certificate for a free 8lbs of any Hodgdon powder. I reload 9, 40, 45. I'm sitting real well with Titegroup and Win231.

Was told Hodgdon is discontinuing their whole line of IMR SR powders.

Yes this powder along with 4759, PB and 7625 will be discontinued by the end of 2014. I can understand that you are disappointed but there are many reasons why we are discontinuing including outdated technology, high manufacturing costs and low sales.

Appreciate your interest and business

For me it's WSF! Sorry to hear Hodgdon is phasing SR-4756 out, it's my favorite powder in .38 Super for SD loads. Before I started using SR-4756 I used 6.6 grs. of WSF with this combo.

Bullet: Hornady 125 gr. HAP (35572B)

Powder: IMR SR-4756 7.8 grs.

Primer: Winchester Small Rifle

Case: PMC

LOAL: 1.250

Average Velocity: 1258.97 fps

ES: 41.85

SD: 13.85

Recoil Spring: 13 lbs (With Buffer)
