bountyhunter
You might want to volunteer at the local animal shelter like I do. You get to pet all the dogs you want, they will adore you. You might also run into the perfect dog for the next section of your life.

B_Seehawer
My lab was over 15 when I put him down a couple months ago. I thought it would be easy because of his age. Nope, it sucked. I delivered him at birth and put him in the ground. Took the day off, started drinking at 9am, cried like a bitch all day. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. He's now buried under our steel target at 88 yards. RIP Buck
birdzman
Very sorry for your loss. I Had to do it with our fourteen year old Rottweiler over ten years and it still sucks to think about it.

widefat
Thanks for the kind words. We buried her last night on my wife's family farm. She is in one corner of a back field; my daughter and I like to sit together in a deer stand in another corner, so now we can just glance over and see her on those frosty mornings when the sun comes up.
