glockdude1
I love the Montana Golds in my 9mm and don't have any experience with the MG's in 45ACP... I have a 1911 Sig with a Briley barrel that has tight tolerances, so it is a very accurate gun.. Which MG bullet would be best for accuracy and at what weight? JHP, FP, CMJ ??? I have tried a lot of powders in my 45 and have settled on HP38/231.. Your feedback would be much appreciated..
practical_man
Can't say about MG, but I really like the Nosler 185 JHP. Exceptionally accurate at 50 yds. A little spendy but worth it if you want accuracy. I mostly use Clays in the 45 now but you can make a fine load with 231. I really like 231 as an all around powder. -John
45 Raven
The most accurate I have seen is the MG 124 JHP over 4.0 grains of W231 and at a COAL of 1.085" for about 1050 FPS in a Gen4 G17.
glockdude1
I run MG 124 JHP's in my Glock 34 and love them, but I need advice for my Sig 1911 45ACP, please..
Dirty Rod
Which MG bullet would be best for accuracy and at what weight? JHP, FP, CMJ ??? I doubt you will find THE answer to that question since every gun will have a different bullet/powder combination that works the best in that particular gun. A couple of mine, for instance, shoot better with other brands although MG does make a quality bullet. The only way to know is to load up a few and try them. glockdude1
I just like to support MG since they are very involved in the sport and are close to me...I have tried Nosler 230gr HP's and they are great..I just wanted to see what MG most shooters prefer.. cheers623
I've had fantastic accuracy from the MG 200gr flat-nose. They look like truncated cone hollow points without the cavity. However, they are very accurate and I'm using Ramshot Competition powder, 4.7gr, COAL of 1.250", Winchester Large pistol primers. YMMV Cheers623 DVC
