cecil
after shooting my STI steel master using auto comp.. I noticed there is some black stuff (surmise its carbon from the powder) on the upper part of the blast shield.. its very difficult to remove... Hoppes hardly removes it... using W231 or WST I did not have the same black build up... any recommendations how to remove this without scratching the aluminum of the blast shield ? tia
donnyglock
I just scrub it with break cleaner or Hoppes. What comes off comes off. I used to be anal about my blast shield. Now I just wipe it and move on. You can use 600 grit sand paper to take the rest off if you want.

HoMiE
Carbon killer not good with plastic and I've seen hoppes kill whatever glue holds the cmore optics in place. I've had good luck with the M-Pro7 cleaning product.
Sarge
I use AC and it comes off of my blast shield just fine. I usually get the big stuff off with a dry paper towel then a qtip or tooth brush with a small drop of hoppes

Neomet
Carbon killer not good with plastic and I've seen hoppes kill whatever glue holds the cmore optics in place. I've had good luck with the M-Pro7 cleaning product. That's kinda scary seeing as how C-more recommends cleaning the lens with Hoppes followed by windex.
