Diver160652
I mistakenly loaded a bunch Penn hard cast (12BHN) and think I am getting some flashing that is causing a bunch of leading. Just wondering if anybody has tried heating the barrel to soften the lead ? Jt Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
GrumpyOne
Take your squib rod and a pulled bullet (one of the hard cast ones) and drive the hard cast bullet from the muzzle end to the chamber. It should remove most, if not all of the lead.
practical_man
Lewis lead remover is your friend. Or the cheap version of brass screen wrapped around an old brush. Of necessity I have the Lewis lead remover for 38, 45, and 44. Not all cast bullets are created equal. Lol
ltdmstr
Best thing I ever used for lead was Outers foul out system. Gets every last bit. Just set it up and let it work. Not sure they're still available. Next choice would be the Lewis lead remover. Birchwood-Casey pre-treated lead remover cloth also works great if you cut it into patch size and scrub. FAZZ
Spray some Kroil to loosen the lead, comes in a orange spray can.
Diver160652
Spray some Kroil to loosen the lead, comes in a orange spray can. Kroil is what I used after other cleaners seemed to have cleaned the barrel. Lead slivers came out. It was a ton of work - it is in a les bear 45acp that is a 1.5" match fit. The thing was amazing until I started loading the lead. Accuracy remained good. But I don't want to work so long or damage the barrel (early) I ordered the Lewis lead remover.. But it should be so hard to clean. Sent from my iPhone Jt
Boxer1
Let it soak in the Kroil for atleast 24hrs. then start working on it. The kroil gets between the lead and the barrel and loosens it right up.

zmanktm
I second the Outers foul out. When you think you have the lead out put it on a foul out and be prepared to be amazed.
Flexmoney
Lead melts at ~ 621F I'd skip the heat. along with the above (Kroil and LLR), I have taken one of theose plastic rods that comes with a Glock, and cut the loop off the back end. Then, chucked the rod into a cordless drill. Ran it slow with a brass brush attached.
