DrLove
folks, did anyone notice that even after the use of the Apex trigger kit, the pre travel is still huge or is it just me?
ProGunGuy
the regular kits do not shorten the pretravel, only the reset. If you wish for very little pretravel, you need to get the FSS trigger

rack&roll
The RAM will not reduce the pre-travel.
High Lord Gomer
The A in RAM is for Assist not Adjustment. It makes the reset give a more noticeable clickas/when you release the trigger.
4Rules
Yea buy the ram ( reset adjustment mechanism) from apex So can I add this RAM on top of their trigger components? Maybe. This product works in Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm, .357 Sig and .40 S&W models only that DO NOT INCLUDE a thumb safety, Magazine Disconnect or the Internal Locking System. **PRODUCT WILL NOT WORK IN VTAC VARIANT AND SOME OF THE NEWEST M&P MODELS DUE TO CHANGE IN SEAR HOUSING BLOCK CONFIGURATION. <https://apextactical.com/store/product-info.php?pid44.html>
StealthyBlagga
RAM won't fit guns built after April 2012. If you want to reduce pre-travel (take up), you either need a Forward Set trigger, or you need to weld some metal on the front of the trigger bar to prevent the trigger from going all the way forwards. Both mods are illegal for USPSA Production.
bwtrayer
Well, I noticed less travel with the carry kit. I then put the reset assist mechanism in for a more noticeable click. The kit SHOULD help with pre-travel, but then again mine M&P is a few years old. From the Apex website: Drop-in replacements for factory components enhance reliability and optimize the performance of your M&P for different applications. Installing the Competition Kit yields a smooth, consistent, trigger pull of slightly less than 3 lbs., with shorter over-travel and faster reset than a factory-stock M&P. Retain the factory sear spring to get a slightly heavier 3½ lb. pull. Designed for IDPA, USPSA, Steel Challenge, 3-gun, and similar types of action shooting competition. Not for duty, carry, or self-defense applications. Duty/Carry Kit delivers a smooth, consistent 5½ lb. trigger pull with less over-travel and shorter reset. Improves performance of your pistol while maintaining its safety features for daily carry. Retain the factory sear spring to get a slightly lighter 5 lb. pull. Both kits engineered for a drop-in fit, though gunsmith installation is recommended.
GSRswapandslow
to reduce mine, i just bent the finger on the trigger bar up, to meet the sear earlier.
StealthyBlagga
to reduce mine, i just bent the finger on the trigger bar up, to meet the sear earlier. This can have only a limited effect on pre-travel because the trigger bar still has to move back far enough to disable the striker-block. Bending the finger also decreases pre-travel at the expense of increasing overtravel.
P Taylor
This is what I have in mine. FSS with the stock trigger and the sear block tig welded to reduce the overtravel. My camera is a little old and does not like close ups. Pic 1 full extension Pic 2 pre travel take up Pic 3 trigger against trigger stop after break http://www.kycarry.citymax.com/i/MP40/tn_HPIM5176.JPG http://www.kycarry.citymax.com/i/MP40/tn_HPIM5177.JPG http://www.kycarry.citymax.com/i/MP40/tn_HPIM5178.JPG This setup shortens pre travel and after travel and gives a longer trigger reach an dis the closest thing I have tried in a plastic pistol to the 1911 trigger.
