Wildcanine
what is the difference between a small pistol primer and a small pistol magnum primer. thanks
Youngeyes
The magnum primers are a bit hotter. I'd back off on the load by maybe 5% if I used magnum primers instead of regular.
Wildcanine
so magnum primers will work in place of regular small pistol primers because I can find them here local
jlamphere
Yes, they will work. They will add about 20-30 fps to a typical load. They can be a bit harder, so make sure you have a firing pin that is full strength.
mwc
so magnum primers will work in place of regular small pistol primers because I can find them here local Absolutely...I use them all the time and rarely notice any velocity difference. This is with both 9mm and .40 cal in both Glocks and STIs. If you can find primers...buy them!
jeremy kemlo
I would buy them if you can find them. The primer is a little harder so if you are shooting a revolver with a litend trigger or an outo with a litend trigger it will not work well. A stock gun should be fine. It will add about 25 feet per sec. to yorr load-not a big deal.
Wildcanine
Thanks for the info I'm on my way to pick some up
GrumpyOne
Some are harder than others. Winchester and Federal use the same cup, CCI does not. Too hard, and they won't seal, and may lead to breech face erosion.
