Mcfarland one piece gas ring

I had one seize up on me, literally the gun started screeching and then fail to fire stoppages. The gas ring swelled or expanded and seized up inside the carrier. There are also reports of some being undersized as well. For me I've never had issues with quality gas rings. Yes they break every now and then but they are a replaceable item. I personally will no longer run a one piece ever again.

Sorry Kurt, hope I'm not hurting sales :-)

They are a solution looking for a problem IMHO. The old wives tale about malfunctions caused by gas rings lining up is nonsense unless your gun is very marginally gassed.

BIG +1

Colt teaches in their Armorers class that their AR-15's will run on just ONE gas ring.

3 bolt rings can expand and contract independently of each other forming a better seal. The McFarland ring has to change its length when it contracts or expands and the individual coils can't work independently of each other. The McFarland ring is has its uses but it gets blamed regularly for poor quality carriers and bolts.
