some people dont have alot of extra bullets, lets just go ahead and give them an extra hit.

The fact IDPA frequently has problems following their own rule book is why I wont shoot it. There is no Competitive advantage clause in the USPSA equipment rules section. Doesnt matter if you do or dont have mags, do or dont get an advantage, do or dont agree with rule, do or dont get your panties wadded. Put 11 rounds in a mag after buzzer you are shooting open. An RO that doesnt score it that way is allowing you to cheat.

There was a thread recently about some IDPA clubs doing this at their matches to speed things along. But that was IDPA.

Sorry but there is no reason to start bending or breaking rues just to speed things up. Not in USPSA anyway.

That's just for the classifier only in IDPA and it's to speed it up because some people don't have a lot of extra mags (unlike some of us  ). But it's the only time it's allowed in IDPA.

+1

A classifier in uspsa has a set amount of strings, and I don't know of anyone who doesn't have enough mags to comlete 3 or 4 strings max, except for the guy that shows up for his first match with his idpa gear, but he would be probably be shooting limited minor in that case because of the lack of mags and loading them full.

USPSA and IDPA rules are the same.....load the max rounds per division or be penalized. Just in IDPA Classifier, sometimes people do things against the rulebook because they feel it will make things go quicker. USPSA or IDPA......it's wrong and should be penalized. Rules are rules. Either follow them or play something else without rules.

Actually IDPA requires that you load exactly 10 rounds in your magazine unless the mechanical capacity is less. USPSA appears to only require that you load no more than 10. 9 rounds in a 10-rd mag in idpa = procedural penalty.

Just like in any sport, the rules are there to test different aspects of the competitors abilities when compared to others.

The stage design may require to perform certain functions or the user's devision rules may require additional movements or actions during a stage. For example, a stage / classifier design of 19 rounds may require a shooter in the Production / Limited 10 / Single Stack / Revolver devision to make mag changes (I know...no mags used for revolvers...LOL!!!) where as someone else shooting the same stage in Limited or Open may not be required to perform a mag change because of their allowed round count. A stage / classifier design may require all shooters to perform a mag change during the shoot if they have more ammo available to them in their mags or not. It all depends on how the stage description is written and what division the shooter is competing in.

The required mag change may be fumbled by the shooter during the shoot and cause more time to be added to the shooters final score. It could also be a weak area for some shooters causing them more time on their final score.

Good Luck And Be Safe!!!
