Alaskapopo
I am about to buy a STI Steelmaster from a friend of mine. He told me that 2 of the big sticks are not running right and need tuning. Its a 9mm. Who should I send these mags to. Pat

tacticalchef
+1 for mag blueprinting. I have an sti open gun, and several of his sv mags tuned to run in the sti frame.. They are flawless.
Coach
Just get a 3 pound sledgehammer, a big rock and put your knee on it and do it yourself. I have seen it done at the Ohio championship this year.
Chris Keen
Coach is right. By using the search tool here, and a little hard work, you can tune your mags on your own. And it's really pretty easy once you know what you're doing.
DJPoLo
Dawson Precision sells a nifty kit and video so you can do the job yourself. -Chet
Whoops!
The only part of Dawson's kit that make it incredibly awesome are the pliers. I can't seem to find them for sale by themselves anywhere. It's pricey, but worth it if you haven't done it before.
caspian guy
For pliers to mess with the feed lips, I always used a set of cheap channel lock type pliers that I ground to remove the teeth from the jaws. (Also grind a bit of relief on the back of the jaws so one of the jaws will fit between the feedlips).
Guest
Smooth jawed Duck-bill pliers work good, too. I have a large pair, and a small pair I keep in my shooting bag. I usually just use the small pair. These are popular for safety wiring work and are common tools among A&P mechanics and sheet metal guys. I got the small pair at an airshow swap meet for less then 5 bucks.
Alaskapopo
Thanks guys just a little nervious about ruining expensive mags. Also I am paying 2500 for a used Steelmaster with 3 big sticks and 2 140mm sticks. Is that sound like a good price? Pat
latech15
I would say that is a tad high. You will be able to pick up a good used rig from one of the big name builders for close to that. If it is in like new condition....and all the mags run, maybe. I second the mag tuning kit. It is a skill that you need to posess I'd you are going to run a 2011
