Art Yeo
All, In all of your years of experience, which bullet type produces the best accuracy and reliability in a 1911 used for competition: Full Matel Jacket (FMJ) Complete Metal Jacket (CMJ) Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) ? Do tell us why if you know why because it will help me consolidate my thoughts. Thanks! Edited August 30, 2012 by Art Yeo
superdude
Reliability = FMJ Accuracy = JHP/SWC That said, I've had 10-shot 1.5 inch groups at 25 yards with a 230 grain FMJ RN bullet in my accurized Combat 45 ACP (in a Ransom Rest), which is good enough for IPSC. MrMuscleBilly
Isn't a FMJ, CMJ, & TMJ all the same thing?
Art Yeo
FMJ wraps around but the base of the bullet is usually not covered by the jacket. CMJ or TMJ means the entire bullet is completely wrapped by the jacket.

zhunter
I use either Bayou or Hornady Fully encapsulated (RN jacketed including the base)
Steve RA
I prefer LSWCs - weren't included on choices.
noylj
1) JHP 2) L-SWC 3) L-CFP or L-RNFP 4) FMJ-FP 5) FMJ-RN or CMJ or L-RN 6) Plated, including TMJ Also, ensuring that the JACKETED bullets are groove diameter to 0.001" over groove diameter improves accuracy. Of course, unless you are working at <3.0" at 50 yards, it probably JUST DOESN'T MATTER.
