jn618
Hey folks, I snagged a .45 Spartan not to long ago and I'm eager to get out and compete. Before I drop my cash on mags, what is the usual recomendation for mags for this particular gun. I've got 2 of the 47d's and they had a couple of hiccups during the first 50 rounds or so, but they've done fine since the initial shooting (meaning 0 ftf's an 0 fte's since the first box of ammo.) I've been shooting bayou bullets 200gr SWC (Which if you haven't tried them, do it now before they turn into international superstars with a 6 month backorders. They are that impressive) and both the 47d's and the mag that came with the gun, which I think is a metalform, work well. The only thing is that I have heard that the metalfom mags create a higher angle for the Spartans. The angle of the bullet is noticeably different compared to the 47d and I'm assuming that is because the follower on the factory mag is convex vs. the 47d which is concave. Is the the Tripp Research mag the answer to all my questions. Anyone with a kowledge about mags or STI Spartans please send me a clue. I need it. Thanks for all the tipps you guys have, John Nelson

steel1212
I don't have first hand knowledge of the Tripp mags with YOUR spartan but I do know that my tripp mags have worked in all guns I've personally tried them in.
kcinnick
Tripp Research mags are the best mags I have ever seen! I don't even really dabble in selling gun accessories, I only really sell gun leather, and I became a dealer to spread the word. I guess I shouldn't, it will help me at the match when at least 1 single stack per stage has a feeding problem, I have yet to have a feeding issue with a Tripp mag. The 9mm's are a little aggressive at feeding, every now and then first round will feed into my mag pouch, but after a little use they stop doing that. Aircooled6racer
Hello: I use Wilson 47D's in my Spartan and they have all worked great. I have have 12 since you can never have too many mags Thanks, Eric
Paul-the new guy
In .45acp mag choice does not seem to be as critical as say 9mm or .40. Tripp mags are awesome, Wilson 47d are great. Night hawk custom is good. Seemingly most will feed about any bullet profile in .
392heminut
I have run CMC mags in every single stack 45 I have for years. Never a problem with them.
twodownzero
I just switched from CMC to Tripp mags and I'm happier with them. And in 9mm, I've only ever used the Tripp magazines and they are, in my opinion, the best.
FLSlim
I really like Tripps, but in my Spartan, I haven't used any brand of mag the caused a problem with feeding.
Msfinlayson
I started with Wilson 47D in my Spartan 45acp. But i could not get them to drop free consistently. I already had one Cobra mag so I sent the 47D back to Midway and order 5 more cobra mags they drop free great and have had zero problems with them. I like the cobra mags follower a lot more and over all they are better made. The Wilson mags with there long opening down the side of the mag gets dirty fast as well.
