The car in the street behind his mom is a 55 Chevy and the cop cars look like 70's Fords. So is it the 70's or the current year and he just likes old cars? The writers have to be car guys too, the Challenger looks perfect right down to the pitol grip shifter, rally wheels, and 6-pack air cleaner. I think its intentional to mix items from several generations as part of the "whats going on in the background" thing. Unlike most shows this one seems to get better over the last couple years.
