Heathen
I hope I've put this in the right place. I did a search but unfortunately came up with nothing. I'm planning on shooting my M&P Pro in IPSC Production but my trigger pull is consistently 4.5 lbs or less (after a good cleaning I managed to get it down to ~4). Is this a common problem? Does Smith and Wesson make heavier springs? I understand there are APEX springs but I'm under the impression that they aren't legal for Production. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
kreativecid
I find the stock Pro trigger to have a verrrrry long pre-travel and barely detectable reset. The trigger pull weight is just okay. I went Apex and if buying another Pro or 9L the FSS would go in. Trigger pull is even lighter and better.
ETexPops
Try calling Apex and talking to Randy or Scott. Bet they can help you get to where you need to be.
waktasz
Try an extra power striker spring. Glock springs fit. Wolff makes them.
want2race
Glock striker springs are softer than M&P striker springs. SSS has heavier M&P striker springs but that doesn't really do much to the trigger pull, about 1/2#. Totally different than a Glock.
MGMorden
You can't swap in any aftermarket springs or put in Apex parts in IPSC Production (IPSC is much more strict than USPSA in that area). If it's consistently measuring 4.5 lbs you may be SOL given the 5 lbs minimum rule. The only thing that MIGHT save you is if you can swap in factory parts from other S&W models. Put in a standard sear-group from another M&P (non-Pro) and it'll probably bump over 5 lbs with factory parts. Just need to check whether that is allowable. saab
Proposed changes to the 2012 rules is that DAO goes from 5 lbs to 4 lbs.
hitman
Thought it was voted at the last BOD to limit Production to 3.5 pounds minimum? Sorry for the hyjack. Try swapping in the springs and or sear block from a 4.5" M&P Edited December 14, 2011 by hitman
atbarr
From January 2008 Handgun Rules w/ BoD Approved Amendments Through July 2010, effective August 11, 2010 There is no minimum trigger pull. Opps, he's asking about IPSC. Sorry, A.T. Edited December 14, 2011 by atbarr

beastfrog
A Massachusetts compliant trigger return spring would add about 1.5 to 2.0 pounds.
Mapzter
Proposed changes to the 2012 rules is that DAO goes from 5 lbs to 4 lbs. The proposed change was rejected at the IPSC General Assembly. IPSC PD triggerpull will continue to be 5 lbs for at least the next 3 years.
98006
I would just get a stock sear, do the overtravel cut and leave the sear engagement part stock. with this, you should get a 5# + trigger
