drglock
I have a Noveske upper and lower reciever with a 16 inch noveske 1-7 twist. I've tried 55grs,60grs,70 and 75,with benchmark, tac, extermantor and varget all with differnt combos and differnt lengths. the best group so far has been with 55gr vmaxes with benchmark with a group of 1.26 inches. This a light weight rig for calling coyotes.Any input would be a great help(I hope lol)

427Cobra
Are you able to shoot sub 1/2 inch groups with other rifles, I hate to ask that but a coworker of mine was bitching about his accuracy on his AR, as it turns out he can't shoot anything better than 1.5inches, Hornady 68bthp 24.5 grains of Varget or RL15 lit off by CCi primers in preped Win brass has always done well for me out of 14.5 1/7 twist barrel and a 1/9 20 incher, double check the little things, scope mount torque, ring cap torque, if possible remove the gas tube and check the barrel nut torque, remove any muzzle device(take care not to damage the threads while shooting), and lastly shoot 5 round groups with 6 rounds in the mag, the bolt hold open does change the recoil impulses and causes erratic flyers in my experience. sniperfrog
Are you using the N4 with chrome lined barrel or the stainless barrel? 1.25 is about right for the chrome lined although some get a little tighter than that. typically the stainless barrels will shoot sub-minute. whistlepig
Both above posts are good input..... also have you compared your loads with any factory stuff? It is always informative to compare. If you are trying to wring out all accuracy, try some 77 gr SMKs. I have a 1:8 AR that doesnt really care for a 75 grain Hornady HPBT match but loves the 77 gr SMK. Who knows? If the chamber is 5.56 and it is a chrome lined barrel, good round groups in the one inch range are actually nice. All that being said, for your intended purpose (witty comments banned by forum guidelines) I would vote for the 1 1/4 group VMAX over a sub 1 inch SMK. The flight path is only half the battle. drglock
Are you able to shoot sub 1/2 inch groups with other rifles, Yes I can shoot 1/2 groups with other rifles and no I dont expect to get 1/2inch groups with this set up but would like to get it around or just under 1 inch with 60 to 70 gr bullets. handguard is a JP, barrel nut torqued to 70 foot lbs.Winchester brass and federal gold match primers..scope mount is a Larue and all screws are tight. Are you using the N4 with chrome lined barrel or the stainless barrel? it is the light weight stainless Edited September 13, 2011 by drglock
MickB
Check your muzzle device is not torqued too tight... Mick
Nick Weidhaas
55gr Nosler Ballistic Tip over 26gr of H335 has shot lights out in every rifle I've tried it in including carbines.
Tattoo
My Noveske likes 50gr Vmax's with TAC and between 25.3 and 25.8gr's best. Also 69 and 77gr Sierras with TAC. T

gunther
I use a 18 Noveske, the Hornady 75gr BTHP with 23.5gr of TAC seems to be a spectacular combo for me!
Roadrider18
My initial thought was a headspace issue since the accuracy degradation was across the spectrum of projectile weights. But, glad to hear the flash hider was the issue. Question - why would an over torqued flash hider degrade accuracy?
mizer67
I've never found an AR yet that wouldn't shoot a 69 SMK well with 24.0-25.0 grains of RE-15 or Varget.
dauntedfuture
Second on RL 15. If my match rifles will not shoot good groups with Rem 7 1/2 primers and 24-24.5 with 55-80g bullets the barrel will come off. I keep coming back to RL15 as my go to load and i have tried lots of them.
