Suff
For those of you that run a 2011 in IDPA and have fit a magwell to it, make mags do you use? I didn't think you could run extended mags in IDPA and it seems like the regular mag would be too short and be "recessed" up in the magwell. Thanks in advance. I use Rescomp and SV mags with Dawson international wedge pads to fit the IDPA box...
Merlin Orr
SVI magwell and (for my 9mm 2011 - ESP gun) SVI mags with Dawson or SVI wedge basepads. I use the same combination but STI 126 mags with my .40 when I use it for ESP and STI mags for my 2011 - .45 for CDP.
CHARLES D
I use a Krebs magwell with a 126mm STI mag. Fits in the box. It can be a pain sometimes if I need to strip the mag out. I am now experimenting with the 126 mm mag using Bolen pads.
T Bacus
Same here, I use the 124MM SV or 126MM ST mags with the SVI Wedge base pad.
jmorris
I have used stock STI's and Dawson preped STI's but use SV's now for both 9mm and 45. As for what has to be on the bottom of a mag, you can put anything you want on there as long as it fits in the box and is not "weighted". Adding a little weight with an aluminum base to replace plastic doesn't seem to be a problem.
Suff
I ended up using an STI magwell with Dawson wedge baseplates. Milled the magwell down in height and width to fit the box. Eveything seems to work well with the set-up. We'll see how it does in a match this weekend. Thanks for the help.

Suff
I milled the bottom of the STI magwell about an 1/8" then took about an 1/8" off of each side. Fits in the box with room to spare.
Jim Watson
Neater than most. But the wide well and tapered magazines make reloads easy on the bare gun.
