Custom Rust
There is a slight drag mark on the primer strike if you can see it. Anyone know why?
yoshidaex
What sort of gun?
Custom Rust
Uh..Yea that might help. 5" 2011 STI Lexor with aftec extractor.
bill o
Barrel unlocking before firing pin retracts?
want2race
Yep. Those are some DEEP primer hits too. They look like your firing pin tip is flat. Do you run a light recoil spring? Hyperdrive length FP?
tgford58
I suggest a new firing pin and a heavy spring. The firing pin should have a smooth radius on the tip. Pull it and see if the end has been peened and if a burr is catching on the firing pin hole. In any case, don't try to save the pin.
Custom Rust
The pin end is round and smooth. The OAL of the firing pin is 2.329. Too long?
Toolguy
That looks like a pretty hot load. I would say get a heavier recoil spring and a heavier firing pin spring.
anachronism
Is it a pretty new gun? Have you changed anything on it since it was new, springs, firing pin, etc?
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Try a 14lb ISMI recoil spring and see if that helps Thanks, Eric
Custom Rust
The gun is used but new to me. It has a new heavy recoil master in it. I will get a new fp spring and see if that cures it. The gun runs without a hitch, but I would rather it not be a time bomb.
whistlepig
While I don't have much experience with the STI, drag marks on primers like the ones pictured are not that rare. Most SIG's do it too.
