Multigun Nats in Vegas

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are going to go back to the Multigun Nats in Vegas this year. Problem is this year, she wants to stay somewhere a little different. Last year, we stayed at the Orleans. Absolutely no problem with my long guns and transporting them to the hotel room from the rental car. This year she wants to stay on the strip. She called the Bellagio, they told her that they would have to lock the guns up in security every time. I didn't really care for that option.

Anybody have any advice on where else to stay or possible solutions?

Why not just valet and leave them in the car? That's far more secure than your room

Only a couple of employees have access to your car but damn near a 1000 will have a key to your room.

Leave the wife at home - it is Vegas after all. :sight:

Just kidding, well - sort of.

Right across the street from the Bellagio at Planet Hollywood. The problem with the layout of most casinos is that you need to walk through the casino to get to your room from the cab stands, registration or parking. At PH, nearly all of that occurs one floor below the casino level, and you can go to the elevators to rooms without carrying a firearm through the casino & rattling security. The only issue is that to use the "self parking" option, you need to drag all your gear through a shopping mall - I'm pretty certain they are not too gun friendly. I just use Valet Parking & go into the hotel near the cab stand.

(I assume the Bellagio is over vigilant because they have been robbed more frequently than other casinos, at least where it gets into the news)

I have not been able to find ANY law that makes a casino an exclusion zone for possession of firearms, or even for carry with a permit from a state recognized by NV (http://www.nvrepository.state.nv.us/ccw_changes.shtml). The key is to get lost in a crowd of one (a bit difficult with a long gun case, but I doubt you will have any problem if you don't linger by the tables with your luggage).

The only hotel with a posted no guns sign have seen is the Stratosphere, and even the statute they cite is "iffy" since it's a trespassing law, not a "no guns" or "binding signage" law.

I kicked it 'old skool' and stayed at the Riviera during Nats.

(Actually for the Orbitz price I got for the room, SUV and the flight, they paid ME to stay there)

Pulled my hard sided pelican case all over that place with the AR, Saiga and pistol in it.. no issues.

It is on the "end" of the strip, however it made for a fast get away out to the range.

I am not real sure why anyone would ever call a hotel and ask if they could keep a gun (or any other legal item) in the room but to each his own. I have stayed at several strip hotels with firearms including NYNY, Ceasars and Bally's but I only had my pistol stuff. I did not ask in advance and I did not ask when I checked in.

Due to the distance you walk to the room in any strip hotel, taking anything to the room is such a pain that the idea of actually leaving the guns in the vehicle makes a ton of sense. It is one thing to take a range bag but it is another to add two long guns.

Have you considered staying off the strip near the range and driving over to the strip hotels for fun after the match each day? Usually when we go to SHOT we stay at one of the older cheaper hotels and eat, party and gamble an the nicer ones which are only a $5 cap fare away.

To all the other posters, thanks for the helpful replies.

Charles, just something about your post rubs me the wrong way while being less than helpful.

I spend most of my day listening to other people's problems. Because of that, I try to prevent or at least minimize hassle and problems in my life. I prefer not to be hassled by security in a casino if I drag 3 guns in a 4-5 foot long case through their casino floor on the way to my room. Sue me if I want to prevent that from happening. That's why I called. I wouldn't think twice about it if I was putting my pistol in a small bag.

We're going to stay in Vegas for a week, not just the weekend of the match. We will spend most of our time on the strip. My wife wants to stay on the strip. I try to keep the peace. That's the whole minimizing problems and hassle thing again.

Hopefully, this post won't cause me any problems/hassle. If so, mods please feel free to delete it.
