Bacon slices/packaging

Last week I bought two packs of sliced bacon from a well known brand. The first pack I cooked was awesome, nice thick slices that didn't have a lot of fat. First time I had really good bacon in years. Couple days later I opened the second pack and thought I had opened a pack of bacon tissue. This stuff was so thin you could almost read the paper through it.

What has happened to making a product with consistency? :(
