This is probably a question for the 3GN folks but if anyone else knows, please chime in.

Since there is only Tac-Ops and Open in the pro-division, can we shoot for 3GN points in Limited, HM, or HvyOPS if we use the proper equipment in the tactical optics or open division?

Or will this be a match with no Limited/HM/HO points awarded?

One of the changes this year was to not have the points division specific, so (afaik) you can shoot the matches in any divisions and your scores will be tallied up no matter what division they were from.

My understanding of the points system is that you get points for whatever percentage you finish in your division. Since there are no divisions at this match, if you chose to shoot HM or TI you are going to get whatever percentage you get based upon all the participants. It could be seen as a real disadvantage to shoot anything but TO at this match.

I plan on shooting irons anyway. My biggest disadvantage is my lack of talent, not my equipment.

If that's true - then that just makes up for all the times they get the prize table advantage for shooting Heavy in other matches.

I have never noticed a prize table advantage to shooting HM when I shoot it. Generally the table is stacked according to participation and HM is often the smallest. Most HM shooters do it for the fun, not the prize table.

Match and prize table coninue to build momentum, Alexander Arms and Colt are now GOLD sponsors.

Winners are going to have a hard time deciding what pick up off the prize tables; ACR, LOKI 223, Alexander Arms Grendel or 50 Beowulf, Neil Wiggans or Freedom Gun Works custom STI 9mm, Seekings Precision Custom AR, CMMG, Bushmaster, Remington or DPMS rifles or tons of stuff from AR15.com, Brownells or Hornady and all the other great sponsors, I may try to publish a list before the match so everyone can get an idea of what to be looking for.

Thanks to all the sponsors and shooters for turning out to help make this come together

All those guns on the Pro side or are a few of them being put in the random draw for the AM side?

Prizes will be distributed between Pro and Am tables as equitably as I possibly can based on participation/ percentages, so yes guns on all tables, as there are more Pro's expect to see more there but I do not expect anyone on the AM side to walk away disappointed at this match, my/ our goal is to provide great "shooter value", great opportunity for sponsors and a weekend unlike any other!!

Stages are posted on the match website http://rockcastle3-gunproam.com/Stages.html

Target count is AM Pistol 49, Rifle 49, Shotgun 48 PRO Pistol 56, Rifle 60, Shotgun 65, that is targets not rounds unless you choose to shoot one A and hit every piece of steel on the first shot, I think someone should take that challange, Kelly N I think you should try that! I would say round count at 2 hits on each paper and a few extra shots at steel targets puts this at about 300-350 rounds total for the match.

So average 325 shots, with 500 shooters that comes out to 162,500 rounds in two and a half days and then the side matches and such, that's a lot of fun in one weekend

Now I'm down to "build it and they will come", I gotta get some of the props out of my garage and up to Rockcastle, then I can make more

Later

Jeff,

What is the max distance for PRO rifle flashers? Also, looks like all birdshot? No slugs or buck?

This looks like an awesome match. This will be my first "out of state" 3gun match. Looking forward to it!!!!!!

Looks like AM will be greatly influenced by one’s ability to load a shotgun which is not normally a trait of an amateur. I can’t wait! I’m sure many will ask about max rifle distance to the steel in both AM and PRO.

I think early on Jeff said AM range would be about 250 and Pro about 350 for rifle.

May have changed once the stages got put up but I think it will stay close to that.

This look amazing!! Just looking at the stages got my blood pumping lol For sure need to make shotgun loading a big thing in the training it seems lol So did I read right in the stages, PRO's have to carry/sling their rifles but AM's don't need slings?

fueddy, you read right, none of the stages require AM's to have a slung weapon, and only one Pro stage has it and they can carry it and shoot one handed with the pistol if they choose.

Yes I am excited to its a blend of some close speed, shooting on the move, technical shooting positions, physical movement and longer range targets. Shotgun isn't quite as heavy as pistol or rifle and there is room in most cases to be loading on the move, vice flat foot, so it should be a BLAST

I once heard a real smart shooter from north Alabama say if he had a shotgun and needed to shoot something with a rifle he would go get a rifle. I thought that was a wise statement.

Charles,

I like that quote! I feel the same way. I've always wondered why folks want to shoot slugs at 75+ yards and rifles at 3 feet!
