Jim Watson
Whatintheworld is a STI FB7 with "fixed barrel" and available in 7mm or 9x19? http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?p=2935925&posted=1#post2935925 And did I buy one, where could I get 7mm pistol ammunition? A STI in Baby Nambu caliber? Woo, woo.
ParaGunner
I think the "fixed" is a typo. Unless they have some new technology.

Maybe 7.62x25 and 9mm? I know you could get 9mm barrels for the cz-52.

Julien Boit
I truly suspect it to be the 7mm PENNA. http://www.7penna.biz/ I heard, they are the one who manufactures the Aluminium grips for STI
RAZZ
Download STIs full catolog, and look on page 12 (or 10, depending on how your browser numbers it). Edited November 23, 2010 by RAZZ

Fixed barrel 1911's are not new technology, an old timer in Hawaii has been making fixed barrel blowback 45 bullseye guns for years. RAZZ
Didn't Craig attempt a fixed barrel 9mm 10 years ago or so, called it the Phantom or some other ominous sounding name? It seemed as though (IIRC) the fixed barrel offered some unique benefits, but had some engineering problems that they / he couldn't work out. Since I have no idea, what would be the benefits to a fixed barrel gun?
Joe4d
shot groups, the frame, barrel and sights were one solidly attached assembly with no movement between each other. The slide was machined apart, from the breach face back the sides of the slide cycled kinda like a ruger MKII 22lr.
Jim Watson
I remember at one time STI was in cahoots with another European outfit with a proprietary cartridge. Found it, the 7.92x24 VBR http://www.fsdip.com/website/VBRBelgiumHome/English/tabid/134/Default.aspx Looks like most of their pistol work is now Glock based. Reason enough to try another entry into the European market, I guess.

austin rick
I have an STI catalog they handed out in July of 2010 that has an FB7 in it. It looks like a 2011 and it comes in 7mm and 9x19. However, I haven't seen it on their website.
austin rick
I forgot to add that it states a "STI bull barrel, Ramped, Fully supported, Fixed". The slide is also cut out differently. I would add the phot, but don't have the equipment available to scan right now.
