  1. I’m a match official am I not? I’m sometimes the rangemaster unless I have a guy there that I trust to take the rangemaster position for me but with that said yes I’d yell “stop” if I saw something as a match official. Kind of different would you not agree? We have a match structure in uspsa for a reason. The structure to the match is to ensure proper and consistent scoring throughout.
  2. Telling the RO there was a no shoot that didn’t get scored is kinda different tho right? Or saying, that’s not a alpha Charlie that’s 2 Charlie or that’s two alpha. There’s physical evidence there that is presenting itself. An ftsa penalty however is something that the RO or scorekeeper should of noticed during the COF. And if they didn’t it usually gets asked “hey did you engage these?” And the shooter or someone else can chime in and the RO can use their discretion. The answers you get from the shooter will usually dictate the proper response . “No I didn’t engage them, I don’t remember or yeah I shot at it but I just suck and missed it both times”
  3. Those long slide 1911s give me terminator vibes. All they need is one of those giant lasers frame mounted on them lol
  4. By watching learning and running the tablet and timer. It takes time and making mistakes. We learn by doing. We will all still make mistakes sometimes. But it’s not the other competitors job to tell us something. They can say something like “hey man I think you should watch for foot faults right here” or something like that, or they can tell us about the infraction and we can speak to the competitor in question. I never said the RO is supposed to be perfect out the gate, no one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes.
  5. If I’m the RO or scorekeeper I am making sure the competitors get the correct score. Even if it’s another seasoned RO, if they aren’t on the job at that time I can’t take their view into account. If I am not the RO or scorekeeper it’s not my job to say anything. I get y’all run it that way but iirc from my RO class the only people allowed to call procedurals or DQs are the RO and the scorekeeper in charge at that time…
  6. The people in charge of the score they earn is the RO and the scorekeeper….. if they are distracted perhaps they shouldn’t be doing that job…. It’s not a freebie if they miss something. It’s a screw up on their part. Having someone else do their job isn’t the answer. Another competitor should not have a say in the situation.
  7. Were you using 115 or 124s? I’m thinking about trying the aa7 since there’s some at my local shop.
  8. What was your load for it if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve seen n350 on the shelf as well as aa7 at my local shop. Did you use 115 or 124? I’ve been using 124s but I’d like to try some 115s.
  9. Interesting. I’d like to try aa7 with some 115s and 124s to see how I like it compared to hs6. Thanks for the reply.
  10. People are going to have different opinions about it but that’s the proper way to run a stage. The scorekeeper and the RO are the only ones in charge at that time. No matter the level of match…
  11. That’s fine if you want to do it that way. I know there’s plenty of seasoned ROs on my squad some days. Doesn’t mean just because they tell me something that I’m going to hit someone with a penalty that I as the RO didn’t see. I might ask the person in question and ask the person who saw it for more details but it doesn’t mean I’ll give them the Penalty.
  12. If your the RO you can leave it up to your discretion. I myself would not take the word of someone else for something like that. But that’s me. I would however ask them what happened and when that way I can learn to watch for it. I would also speak to the competitor and see what they have to say about it. If they admit to it then sure give them the penalty
  13. I wouldn’t be happy about it but yea I would and have before. Just like I’ve told an RO before that the Charlie he gave me was actually a delta and other scoring mistakes. What does that have to do with another competitor saying hey so an so did this an y’all didn’t see it.
  14. I get that, but the correct score is the score that was input and witnessed by the RO and the scorekeeper that were in charge at that time. If we allowed people to speak up and give procedurals it opens the door to issues IMO. I’m not going to give someone a procedural off of someone else’s word. To each their own tho. The RO and the scorekeeper are the final judge in that situation and opinions may vary.
  15. I don’t think your getting what I’m saying. It’s not the correct procedure for another competitor to tell the RO or scorekeeper what another competitor did. Wether it’s a local level match or higher. The RO and scorekeeper are the ones in charge and if they didn’t witness it then it didn’t happen as far as I’m concerned. I think it’s a slippery path if we allow other competitors to dictate procedural penalties. I myself would not give the shooter a procedural if someone else besides the scorekeeper told me they did something.
  16. I’ll say this. If another competitor told me someone had a foot fault or some other procedural and I or the scorekeeper didn’t see it I’m not gonna give them a procedural. That competitor that saw the violation should pull the other person to the side tell them what they saw and tell them they got lucky and to be more aware next time.
  17. Doesn’t matter what type of match it is. If your not the RO at the time or the scorekeeper then it’s not your job to say “hey so an so did this or that” Tell the competitor after the stage is over. There’s no need to throw them under the bus so to speak.
  18. Thanks for the reply. I’m getting a new open gun in soon and I wanted to play with some different powders to see which one the pistol likes the best Now that you mentioned it I remember the shooters world powder being used but it’s hard to come by. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in stock anywhere.
  19. What powder is everyone using for 9mm major. I know there’s hs6 autocomp and aa7 but that’s about all I can think of off the top of my head. I’m using hs6 at the moment but recently heard about aa7. I tried autocomp and didn’t care for it. I’m not asking for load data so much as what other options are out there for 9major.
  20. If your not the RO, scorekeeper or some other match official on that stage then it’s not your job, responsibility or concern
  21. You shouldn’t be waiting to hear your hits. Get a sight picture and pull the trigger. Call your shot and move on to the next target. with that said I like the Walker r600s for when I would shoot rimfire and minor pf loads. Gotta get some aftermarket foam plugs for them because the factory ones suck but it was only an extra 20 bucks for the memory foam ones.
  22. Slightly off topic. How did your friend get bumped to open?
  23. I’ve loaded a good bit with hs6 and its been fairly consistent. I’m right at a 170pf with it with 8.1 grains a federal small pistol primer and a pd 124 jhp at 1.170. Ran it multiple times on my chrono and others I would like to add that I used mixed brass headstanmps. I saw someone mention different headstamps causisng deviation.
  24. The demand is there for sure. Although I don’t really see it lol. But people like those things. A couple hundred bucks more wouldn’t persuade someone to not buy one.
  25. They probably get the coatings done for a hell of a price.
