  1. Congratulations I know all will continue to go well for you! Thanks for all you do for the Tanfolio crowd. Now put down the beer and get back to work
  2. I own two limited 40s. Neither is for sale. It is true that we are a minority, but the gun shoots better than I do and it is much cheaper to get into than an STI Limited. Some people like an all metal gun and some prefer something else. There are not as many "custom" parts out there for Tanfos. However, all that you NEED you can get from Henning. In the hands of someone that can handle it, it does quite well. Henning has demonstrated that numerous times. It is a simple, quality made pistol.
  3. Yeah, I can read the many items at distance without glasses (large items, not news print) but my problem was seeing (in focus) the front sight (actually front and rear). My optometrist gave me the script for the pistol iron sight shooting glasses. I shoot red dot sights with my regular glasses and I shoot shotguns with glasses that only see distance (one small bi-focal cut on one lens corner). At least when clay targets rise they don't change magnification three times!!! It takes a bit of getting used to, but it is amazing how fast the eyes can adjust to the change. Good luck to you! Tom
  4. I wear no-line bi-focals which are officially tri-focals. However, I do not wear them to shoot. I have glasses that take my dominant eye (unfortunately my left one) and focus that eye on the pistol front sight. The right eye is focused on distance. It calls for the gun being positioned in front of the left eye which does not require much movement. It does take me a few minutes to adjust to the shooting glasses at each match so I switch when I get there. I cannot read any small print after I get the glasses on, but it makes shooting a great deal easier.
  5. The link below shows the original colors: http://www.henningshootsguns.com/shop/grips.html Dark blue and black are not there. I had mine hard anodized for my Ionbonded Limited. Leo put clear grip tape on his Green grips but I cannot find a picture.......Leo?? Henning is not in the country so you might have to wait until December to see some of the samples you asked for. Good luck!
  6. And in my limited gun also I have never had a problem with Grams followers!
  7. I had Teflon followers in three of my mags when I purchased my open gun second hand. Everyone worked!!!
  8. I would say anything from load 7 through 9 would be fine as far a PF. I don't know about humidity and altitude but temperature is definitely a factor and different powders react differently to temperature changes. I think you need to check with people who load clays to major PF. I believe I have heard that it does not vary a great deal with temperature change.
  9. Take the original Tanfoglio aluminum grip panels and grind them down. They are already pretty darn flat. That is what I did, but then I added putty to shape them. They have an outside edge that sticks up but the actual panel is inset.
  10. When are you going to add the front sight to tanfoglioparts.com so I can place my order?
  11. Thanks to having good friends with a mill my front is already .090, but the FO will be welcome! I definitely want one as soon as I can get it. For sure in time for Area 2.
  12. Muzzle rise is not objectionable to me and it returns faster than the stock pistol. It has a little more snap and cycle speed than the stock gun, but a Much higher "Pure Sex" factor. We shot it before coating it to make sure that it did not need any more carbide "whittling", but thanks John. Not as snappy as Josh's pistol from Matt but it works well for me. Thanks for all the kind words and thanks again to the guys who put in the time and sweat to get it right. Josh can of course get it for a match, as can John or Leo, but it does have to come back home.
  13. Thanks! Ryan had to do the frame three times. He experienced "gassing" problems in certain areas. I do not know if it is the base casting or the hard chrome finish that causes the "gassing".
  14. The TF project finally reaches conclusion! The slide above with some custom chamfering , I removed the checkering on the frame and it was finished and blended by Josh, custom cut hammer, .090 front sight, dog earred rear sight, highly polished barrel, Henning trigger job(2+lb), grips, slide lock pin and firing pin. Many hours of work by John, Josh and Leo. Ionbond finish finally managed to adhere totally to the frame! I had four mag tubes done with the DLC black also (kept four back for shooting in my backup while the others were gone). All the mags have Grams internals and Henning pads. (I put the original slide lock pin in for some of the pics.) Thanks to all for their hard work.
  15. Did they come through for you on the front sight or are you switching to a bigger whip?
  16. Yeah, sorry. Sometimes you get the short answer. No extra charge. I might have looked it up for you but I was busy moving the thread to the rules section at the time. And I forgot to thank you for that......so Thanks for the Assist!
  17. To all who offered help, thank you! My parents said I was thick headed and over the years I have found reason to believe them. nik -I read the item above as a sentence and IMHO "external modifications " is not a seperate item. This whole piece regards recoil control or recoil reduction devices. Flex - I have seen many of your posts and I respect your opinion (and your shooting ability), but..."It's just not legal " would be a tough one to give to a competitor at the Nationals when you place them in open class with their G34. I believe they would want a rule cited; I know I would. Sights and grips modifications (not contour changes) are legal and certainly External (although specifically allowed). vluc - where does that quote come from? So I am going to humble myself further and send an email to one of the NROI powers that be. When I get an answer, I will post it here. Thanks again for your time and effort!
  18. I appreciate the input, and perhaps I am reading right over it, but I cannot find the "externally visible" verbage anywhere. Obviously, some items are externally visible such as slide stops, safeties, and these are considered "minor components". Plus the specific visible items are mentioned such as grip tape, sights, etc. I little more help please. Thanks!
  19. I an trying to find out if the Lightning Strike Aluminum Trigger replacement is production legal in USPSA. In other words does it fall into the "exchange of minor components"? I am thinking that a trigger is NOT a minor component, but I am looking for an answer from someone who knows for sure. I know certain Vanek triggers are legal and some are not. I just don't know about these. Thanks in advance for the help!
  20. I hope this means you will actually get out and get some shooting time in before Nationals
  21. I had a similar experience when a childhood friend sent me a case of Sabrett ("The Frankfurter New Yorker's relish") along with the 3 jars of the red onions that go on them just like from a street vendor!! Savor them
