  1. Excellent! I agree there are numerous buttons as long as you can have a mag release that is drilled and tapped. I cannot take credit for the mag release in the picture....I do not remember where I got the picture, but I wish it was mine because it would be perfect for me. I will need to increase my credit limit on my HenningMart credit card
  2. I am sure the Casepro works very well but for those of us with limited space (and funds) to place a $600 machine; I think the 38TJ makes sense. Plus I do not have an additional step of resizing before I put it in my 650 press. 38TJ costs less than 38SC so as long as the brass holds up over time, I think I will have to jump on the TJ band wagon and give it a try. I do not have the problem with 40 I assume because I do use an U die and cannot load past 21 rounds.
  3. Sounds reasonable to me! I think I need a Henning Shop charge account...new grips, some new 141 base pads, new brass, Barry mount, front sight and soon...the new magwell. Maybe it is good that the V12 is hard to get. I truly think it is great that you are getting these pistols more USPSA competitive into the more into the US competition mainstream. Oh yeah, I forgot that I also want the extended mag release as pictured here!!!
  4. Good looking pistol Leo .....I want to shoot it and then find out who I have to kill to get one Good luck with it. Oh, it appears you are going to have to redesign a racker to work with the Barry mount. I would think you will have that done by next week.
  5. Great looking shirt!!! What was the total time for order to receipt?
  6. Smooth on Both sides (edited to specify smooth on the TOP) works for me. I have no need to checkering up there and reducing the grip in that area just makes it easier for me. Originally I was going to get the silver color ones and file away (relieve) the top area on the left, but I don't want to do it to a nicely colored set.
  7. I am with Mo on this. Relieve the thumb path on the left side and no checkering in the area of the thumb path. I think Blue will work very nicely, although the red could be good. Ordering blind....I would go with Pepsi Blue! Here is a picture of the wood grips I sanded down and textured and the aluminum grips I build up with putty except for the area of the thumb on the left side. Both of these are thinned to the max on the left side for the thumb to reach the mag release.
  8. Is this your limited gun? I guess you don't use the rear cocking serations anyway. How light is it going to get? It's going to look cool!!
  9. Congratulations! You have certainly made the Tanfoglio a competition gun for the US market. Thanks for the great service and assistance you provide !
  10. Looks like it is going to be a winner! Lots of questions: Who spec'd the comp and it is custom or off-the-shelf? What is your investment in the pistol so far? What barrel is in it? Are there any ports in the barrel? Did Rich do any fire control work? Thanks and please keep posting.
  11. Congratulations! You know they say it is not the arrow but the archer. It sounds like the gun works just fine for IDPA competition. Is that the form of competition you are referring to? I imagine Henning will get into this thread and give you some guidance. From my understanding (which is not always correct) most factory guns are "oversprung" and reducing the spring weights just makes them easier for the shooter. I have no idea how light the springs can go with the ammo you choose. I would think you would try a few different weights for reliability beforre heading off to a match (or carrying the gun for self defense). The recoil spring and hammer spring are the most important ones in the Tanfos I own. I bought various weights to test in the gun with the ammunition I load. I don't know anything about Tanfo 45ACP pistols so I will stop at that. Good luck although it sounds like you don't really need it.
  12. Very Nice looking shirt!! And now we know he has the Tanfo artwork!
  13. I know this thread has turned toward Hennings new grips and I am thrilled to see them but I need to finish what I started on the molding project. Here is what I learned. AplusB putty works as long as you kneed the two parts together until you have only one color. Mine was grey and came as one part grey and one part tan. You are not done mixing until all the tan disappears! The first side I mixed never hardened (nder mixed) and after two days I finally removed it. Order AplusB putty from the distributer in AZ not the manufacturer in FL. It took me over two weeks to get the putty from the manufacturer who does not return emails or phone calls! I first used playdough to get an idea of what the grips shape would be. It is much softer and easier to work with than AB putty. Another forum member gave me the idea and since we keep playdough for our granddaughter (Lord I am old) it was handy and it worked well. My epoxy paint has also been on order for two weeks. I am still waiting for it! I called the manufacturer again yesterday (small family operation)and they said they would get it out very soon! I have a match on Saturday so I went with my backup finish of "truck bed coating" spray. I sprayed the front of the grip also (need to get some overspray removed) to soften the "checkering". I will have the checkering removed when I am ready to refinish the gun in Ionbond. I sprayed it on rather thin but also added additional grit. Anyway, here are the pics. It feels very good in my hand. The extension on the trigger finger side is to stop me from over indexing on the trigger (sticking my finger it to far) and it helps me get a straight back trigger pull. Saw it somewhere; tryed it and I like it (for now). Will I still get Henning contour grips? Absolutely, I have to try them and they LOOK GOOD!
  14. Not to let this thread die as I know there is still interest. I saw a post by Mo H. on the Techwear sub-forum talking about his "custom" shirt. So, Mo did you get any Tanfoglio, Henning (henningshootsguns.com or tanfoglioparts.com) or FreedomVentures logo on it? What does the design look like?
  15. Not sure if I'm ever gonna go with a 6" uspsa gun, but I talked to the factory about that and I'll see if I can get them to make up a 6" model or just a 6" upper that you can slap on a regular limited. If we can just get them in 40S&W, Rich can do the final trickery which I'd probably prefer anyway. The 6 inch 40 upper would be the Shit Hot way to go. Then the trigger, sear, hammer, etc are all good to go. If they build one I'm in. Just tell me when to send the money. Henning for President . But first we need those short grips, front sight and magwell (or magwell and front sight). I'm sure you had a terrible time at the SHOT show. Welcome back to reality!!
  16. Am I correct in guessing that the new Hunter does not use a coned barrel? Is that the reason for the bushing? I am just thinking that in 40s&w with a nicely lightened slide, EGW hammer, sear and "slide release" pin, GOOD sights, your new grips, magwell and extended firing pin this could be a Hell of a 6 inch limited gun!! AND it would use the same magazines as my 5 inch. I have always wanted that extra inch
  17. There is most likely nothing wrong with the mag. The difference between 40 mags and 10mm mags is that the 10mm mags are LONGER to handle the longer round. You will have to modify your gun a small amount to make it work with both mags. Henning or Leo can tell you what to do. I believe it is the mag catch that needs a little work. Although IMHO it is not EASY to get the mag release out on a Tanfo. It is much easier on an STI type. I have not done it, so I will not go any further.
  18. I am sure Britin and Leo are correct, but I still want my front sight! Perhaps I need to learn patience ....................nah
  19. 1. Fiber optic front sight similar to the Brazos MicroDot so that the fiber does not overwhelm the sight. Actually I think one sight with three uprights would allow you to do the MicroDot or a Normal Dot. The normal one would stick all the way out and the Microdot would only go through the first two holes. I don't know if there is enough room for it, but I think the MicroDot is a very good fiber optic that does not cheat you. And as long as you are making a .90 post front, make some with no hole.....just thinner BLACK front sights. 2. Bigger magwell is nice, but one with a Delrin insert would be GREAT. I know that is a lot to ask for a small community of Tanfo Shooters and I have no idea of ICE magwells are big in Europe, or even if "Big Ass" magwells are big in Europe, but it they are I have to believe that a slick liner in the magwell that does offer some protection to those magazine lips is a really good idea. And then again, as long as it is BIG and fits WELL I would probably buy 2 also. I wonder if the ICE is patented . That would be worth checking on 3. Straight Trigger! Brit posted a pretty cool idea of how to make one that could be made long or short. 4. A gun that shoots Faster, only hits A zones, has no recoil and you don't have to clean it!! Actually this should be number one. I will give you two months for this one BTW...the GRIPS really look GREAT. I imagine you are having a terrible time at the SHOT show
  20. Excellent I am sure many of us will be watching for the pictures. I am not going to cut the grip, so I will wait for the precut ones Off to the SHOT Show you go! Enjoy
  21. Henning...Any update on the grips? Have not heard from you for a week. I hope you didn't fall and hurt yourself while skiing. You shouldn't do that dangerous stuff.................................until after the grips and magwell project are complete You have us all anxious to see them so any pictures to post? Thanks
  22. Good little video! If the fiber optic sight is like the Brazos MicroDot, I would love to get my hands on one. Who do I have to kill......I mean contact
  23. You can always put a piece of griptape over it! Perhaps even cut it out in an interesting design...like the shape of Texas or Yup, it bothers me too, but if you are worried about dirt getting in, griptape will stop it and it looks right at home. If someone should ask why you have griptape "there" just tell them it's for when you do your "weak hand inverted tactical draw " and that should dampen thier curiosity Enjoy the gun
