  1. The ogive of 9mm lead bullets often varies from FMJ's, usually being more rounded. I've found that I had more success with a bit less OAL. YMMV, of course. Good luck, and good shooting. Chuck
  2. Thanks, toothguy. Some sensible tips. Chuck (another "tooth guy")
  3. I like Berry's 124gr. for my 9mm loads. No problems whatever. I know that some on here order FMJ's on-line for a pretty good cost, but I can't justify ordering 2000 rounds at a time. Just my issue. Chuck
  4. Thanks for the heads-up, guys. Chuck
  5. If I try them, will I have to make any adjustments? Chuck
  6. I want to thank you for your input about my multiple problems with my XD9 Service (http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=161832). I just got it back from Geneseo. Turns out they put in a new barrel and locking block. Can't wait to shoot it this weekend- then back to competition! Chuck
  7. I changed the springs in my three 16 round mags, none in the 10 rounders. I had been getting occasional failures to lock open on empty, and FTF's once in a while before that, but zero jams. I had loads of trouble yesterday with two 16's and one 10. Chuck Ok my next thought is spring facing the wrong way in your mag. I'm not trying to insult your intelegence by no means, but that would just be easy to fix and fairly easy to put in wrong. Open end of the spring facing the front of the mag is how they should be in. Like I said not trying to be offensive just that would be the simplest other than follower facing wrong way but that would be pretty obvious. Thanks for your thoughts. Much appreciated. Mag springs are in correctly, BTW. I'm sending the piece back to S.A. tomorrow. I'll let them work it out. I just hope I don't lose out on too much competition shooting. Chuck

  9. Hi. I have many thousands of rounds through my XD9 Service, with few issues. Lately, I started getting a few FTF's. I've cleaned the striker/firing pin assembly and channel, have an extra power striker spring, and a new recoil spring/guide rod, but still get a few. Now I'm starting to get some double feeds, one FTE, and a few stovepipes. I have a number of years in indoor competition, so I'm not a newby- use a nice, firm grip. The mags have new Wolff springs. The gun is cleaned, and carefully lubed. I'm frustrated. Any suggestions, or should I just send it back to Springfield? Any help would be appreciated. Chuck
  10. Hmm. Doesn't it say "Please do NOT post load data on this forum"? I'm not trying to be a killjoy, just looking at Mr. Enos' rules. If I'm wrong, please say so. Chuck
  11. Rooster- I believe you're in the Springfield XD section. Chuck
  12. Thanks for the answers. Now I have to go reload more .38's! Chuck
  13. Hey there. I've read many times that a forcing cone angle of 11 degrees is optimal for revolver accuracy. Fine. But since all current wheelguns have forcing cones straight from the factory anyway, why don't all of them have 11 degree cones as standard? Why would Brownell's even have to sell a forcing cone reamer kit with an 11 degree reamer? Just curious. Chuck
  14. My 4" 67-3 is a honey. Great balance, and dead nuts accurate. Chuck
  15. "I attribute that change to the increasing popularily of cream pie fetish internet porn among revolver shooters." Sir, you make that sound rather negative! Seriously, thanks for all your input. I'm a relatively newish wheelgunner, and appreciate expert advice. Chuck
  16. One more point... before you try shooting the GP in a match (which I agree with), practice reloads at home until it becomes smooth and fumble-free. Then just go have fun. Chuck
  17. +1 on the Jerry Miculek DVD. Great video. He also makes a point of showing you what not to alter. Worth the "price of admission". Chuck
  18. Why are you using the slide release button? "Slingshoting" the slide is much easier, fast, and reliable. Chuck
  19. Several years ago I was shooting in an indoor competition with my Beretta 92FS. I couldn't hit anything! Missed every shot. When I finished that round, I looked at the rear adjustable sight. Sheesh. One of the two roll pin pivots had broken, allowing the sight blade to sit at a cockeyed angle. If I had checked it before the match, I would have withdrawn. Shame on me- but especially on the sight maker. Oh- and my shooting buddy had the same model rear sight break the same way on his 1911. I ended up replacing both roll pins with solid ones fashioned from stock I got at a hardware store. No more problems. Chuck
  20. catwrench- why do you want to shoot right handed? If you're a natural southpaw, and are left eye dominant, don't switch. You need to work on improving your shooting, period. Why not take a lesson from a pro? Worth every penny. Chuck
  21. Yup, Granny- those youngins do get a little cocky. Nothing a wheelgun and some mags can't correct! Chuck
  22. "Regardless of the speedloader & holder used, the key to good reloads is a buttload of practice." Boy- ain't that the truth! I have all summer to practice, and I sure will be doing that. Gotta love those wheelies, though. Chuck
  23. You (and a couple others) got that right. I just checked the Safariland site, and my holder is for L frames. Must have had it for my old Ruger GP. Thanks again. Problem solved. Chuck
  24. Hi, all. I'm a pretty experienced shooter with a bottom feeder, but I'm considering using my recently acquired S&W 67 in a competition starting this fall. I have a couple Safariland Comp 2 loaders, and the same number HKS. I want to settle on one brand before I buy more. My problem is that the Safariland loaders don't fit my Safariland belt speedloader holder. It's marked "for comp II only-but they aren't properly retained. The HKS ones are fine. The Comps are a tad longer, and don't lock under the holder's "lip". I was leaning toward the Comps for competition over the HKS's, but the speedloaders shouldn't be flying around the range. Any thoughts- or should I stick with the HKS? BTW- blazing fast reloads, such as in IDPA or USPSA aren't needed... just, well, "quick". Thanks for your time. Chuck
