  1. not trying to be disrespectful per your request to let it die, but if it makes you feel any better we all make mistakes, you will learn through experience when shooting a match sometimes if you have to ad-lib, you have already wasted to much time, in some cases if you have to think about it you have already wasted to much time {i.e. some make up shots}, stick with the basics, and follow course design dan
  2. i urge you to stop this practice now, not only are you risking breaking an extractor, you are risking an AD, i cannot imagine doing this or it taking less than 2.5 seconds to reach in your pocket and grab a round while discharging the magazine, pointing the gun down, pulling it up and acquiring the target, even if it would save a second the risk is not worth it, i would not allow this practice as an so, and catching the round may get you in trouble as well dan g.
  3. my sti used to do that, i found by bending the follower a bit it worked, but only after a broke one i learned to heat it up a bit first, i couldn't imagine shooting a match like that Dan
  4. great advice so far let me add that the other problem will be your round count, i know you stated you are aware of this but believe me it will catch up to you when it is most important, you will fire on an empty chamber sooner or later, i would get it fixed asap, in it's current config you would be better served if possible to rwr, remember some matches are won and lost by 1/100 second
  5. +1 i think some confuse standards with scenarios
  6. that was taken out of text, i answered that with a NO! the question was that was the question i answered, but to answer your question of course slicing the pie, but again NO procedural!, just points, and a ftn if aplicable
  7. parameters should be explained, or when in doubt ask, but as a general rule you cannot assume a target has been neutralized "ever", what if one shooter assumed this, then the target was missed, should they receive a pe after they are done? NO, it should never be done midvalleyshooter, i have seen your described scenario done with allowing the reload, but it was a poor design if done by the rules so it was allowed because there was no proper way to reload, but it was described in the walk through
  8. it depends on what you are looking for, if you are trying to win a bug match it may not be the best choice, i look at a bug gun match as an opportunity to see how i would fair with the gun i would carry, a model 640 with full .357 magnum loads, and surprisingly enough i do pretty good, last time i placed 3rd out of 20 with it, of course the so's didn't care for it much
  9. that's odd, i know of two people who ran them at the nats, and i have never been able to find it in the rule book where they are not legal, not in any form or definition
  10. i cronographed a few factory +p's they averaged 144pf
  11. i would go with 135pf, otherwise you may have trouble knocking down some steel, and if you travel elevation plays a big part in velocity, we where i live are at 850 lower than where last years nationals, allot of guys experienced up to 50 fps lower velocity at the higher elevation, so it pays to be safe
  12. I see no reason why the recoil master is not legal. It's a factory part. HK runs a very similar recoil system in the USP. There is no rule in the book that states that this type of guiderod if unacceptable. It weighs less than an all steel FLGR (which are permitted). Furthermore, the gun itself definatly complies with IDPA's principles, it is designed for carry. I don't think anyone that shoots IDPA will get on to you about shooting a gun designed for carry. No one is going to be asking you to take apart the gun to see you guiderod system. Besides, the RM doesnt reduce the recoil it only makes it feel different. It meets all the criteria for ESP so buy one and shoot it like crazy. Looks like a good gun to me. agreed, i find nothing about it illegal, it is made out of steel not tungsten, i did have one i think they are crap, they are a cheap imitation of the standard dual capture recoil spring found in many compact models
  13. naaaa i'm a novice, i just like spouting off about things i do not know
  14. as i said it is not 100% about cycle time, i am nether old, slow, or a sharpshooter
  15. never said i could, and nether can you, and from what you described it was a malfunction, however i can do them in .11 with full pf loads, but with downloaded 45's i have had to wait because the slide is slow, it may very well be in battery, but not fast enough to acquire the next shot in the same amount of time as full pf loads in a .45, comparing a malfunctioning glock with it is apples and oranges, i did not know the origin of this question was about a glock, i give my experience with under powered 45's, now if you want to ask about glocks start another thread
  16. page 18 it must fit in the box, while it is splitting hairs on it saying you cannot use extended magazines, you very well can use them, as long as the fit in the box, and they will not as far as "waiting on the slide" , maybe one day you will get there
  17. while i like 18 round run and gun stages, 12 round stages place pretty high, because i do not have to hear crying from a few revo shooters
  18. i tried it once, waaaay to slow, your slide will not be able to keep up, and will throw your timing way off
  19. i know of a dozen shooters that wear tape, half of them at the nationals for the past two years wouldn't have happened to be a so that was shooting in your class and division?
  20. most do not complain, they just shoot till it falls because they do not want to draw attention to their pf
  21. agreed, i too worked up a tightgroup load, after about 200 rounds my gun was caked with gunk, i can shoot 200 rounds of clays, and it looks the same if i fired 25 rounds, clean
  22. yep it is the pc "clean" crap they are pushing to the yuppies, i haven't heard of any accidents yet, but my first run in was on my press about a year ago, darn primer would seat, as i pulled the lever it was a no go, i removed the case, and thought wtf, this could get someone seriously hurt, it is not something you want to pass onto someone unknowing manufacturers fixing a non existent problem
  23. a sugestion is not a rule
  24. buy this book http://www.brianenos.com/store/books.html read it, and aply it, best 20 bucks you can spend
