  1. Thanks. It looks like they are making .357 versions of their new HAP style 9mm bullets. I'm ordering some to try. Chris
  2. Zero now lists a conical 38 caliber bullet. But, the website does not have a photo. Has anyone seen or used them? They are listed on the site as: 38 Special 125 gr JHP Conical Bullet model# R105 Chris
  3. I finally made it to the range with some test loads. The loads are 125gr Zero JHP .357 bullets with HS6 powder in 9mm at 1.160" OAL. Powder charges are 7.6, 7.8, 8.0, and 8.3. I'm using MBX mags and a 9 pound recoil spring. Only the 8.3 loads all made power factor. The average pf for this load is 172. I'm thinking the larger diameter bullets need the extra powder. Accuracy was good. About 1.5-2.0 inches at 25 yards resting on the bench. Before getting accurails it was doing 4-5 inch groups. Real improvement. No pressure signs from this load using Federal SP primers. The gun is very flat and soft shooting. Almost to point of feeling sluggish. I'm going to try 7 and 8 pound recoil springs as well as lighter hammer spring to try and liven the action up a bit. Also, the gun is still very tight from the accurail job. I expect that I will need to put some rounds through the gun to break it in. This comp definitely works. And it is LOUD! Chris
  4. Very cool looking gun (and car). Interesting that yours has more top ports and no side ports. It will be interesting to see how this comp shoots. I still haven't made it to the range with this. The hope is to make it this weekend. BTW, if anyone questions what can be done to a worn out old gun then the answer is Doug Jones. The slide to frame as well as the barrel fit was crap on this gun. Got it back from Doug and it is tighter and smoother than any gun I've ever handled. And, I've handled quite a few 1911/2011 based guns. He even tightened up the barrel fit. His work is outstanding. Chris
  5. Thanks for the info. I have an 8lb jug of HD6, and a bunch of Montana Gold 124g jhp bullets, so it's great to hear that they go together well. I ordered an AET barrel from Scheumann and a Bedell Ti comp yesterday so I figure I'll start ther e wi th no Poppel holes and see how it plays out. Again, thanks much for the specific info. Bob FYI, if your Montana Gold bullets are .355" diameter then keep in mind that Schuemann (and most other) barrels like .356" and larger bullets. So, don't freak out if your accuracy is a bit mediocre with .355's. And, if you already know this then ignore me. Chris
  6. Thanks. I ran up a load using WST and Zero JHP bullets for accuracy. Loads from 4.0 gr to 4.5 gr. All were slightly more accurate for me than Titegroup, WSF and Clays. 4.0 grains did not cycle the gun reliably but 4.5 did and might have a slight edge in accuracy. I haven't chrono'd mine yet either. Will hopefully have time this weekend. Chris
  7. Can't wait to hear about the update. The concept of the comp was from the AR rifles, the passage came under the comp to redirect the gas upwards keeping the muzzle down keeping the gun flat. It has made a come back and it on Limcats guns now. Here's a link on how it look now https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153747277300973&set=pb.601585972.-2207520000.1461193417.&type=3&theater With the comp I believe the only carbon build up you will get is in the front area. Im sure you've tried using some shooter choice or hopps to break the carbon let it sit for a minute or two, then use a Dremel 2-Count Aluminum Oxide Grinding Bits make sure to start slow. But Im not too sure is the diameter is right but its worth a try. http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=94855-353-453-03&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=1210065&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=rel&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1 I looked and looked and couldn't find any current reference to this comp. The facebook link isn't working for me. Any chance you might have another link? I'm hopeful the gun will be here this week. If not then I'm sure it will be here next week. Chris
  8. Shmella, What is your WST load using a 124gr bullet? Chris
  9. Primers that are seated only slightly high could cause a problem. It doesn't take much. Also, look at all of the things that could add up to causing an issue. You have slightly high primers. Those primers are also on the hard side. If you have a little more friction in your hammer, hammer spring and firing pin than another gun then I could see this gun having an occasional issue with everything added together where another gun may not with the same ammo. Chris
  10. The frame and slide are coming back from Doug Jones with accurails installed. The gun was a dirt cheap old worn out build that was just too loose to shoot well. So, sent it to Doug to tighten it up. It'll be here in a week or two. Then I'll try some majorish loads with HS6 to see how the comp feels. The only thing I tried before sending it off was some minor loads that of course could not run the gun. BTW, it is definitely the old Limcat Turbo comp with the passages leading to the front underbite area. Interesting idea. But, impossible to clean those passages. Chris
  11. Looks and sounds a lot more snug. I just sent a rattling frame and slide to him as well. Can't wait to get it back. Chris
  12. What chambering? 9mm or super? What velocity are you getting? I just tried 4.5 grains of WST under a 125gr JHP in my 9mm and really like the accuracy and how it feels. Have yet to chrono. Chris
  13. That video from the World Shoot 1993 was fantastic. The commentary with stage breakdown and performances were great to see. Too bad we don't get that kind of coverage now. Chris
  14. Yeah, if I get rid of the comp I was thinking someone might want it for historic memorabilia. I'll be loading it up and shooting it as is first. I found an advertisement in an old Front Sight from 1995 showing this type of comp. (Thanks to Titandriver for naming it). It looks like there is a passage from the first inside vertical port running forward to that underbite area for gas to escape. So, I doubt trimming the comp would be feasible anyway. We'll see. Chris
  15. What are you going to do with it? I didnt know you still shot. I am going to try some open gun USPSA...maybe. I'm going to see how the gun shoots. Hoping the eyes can keep up. Chris
  16. The gun should be on it's way soon. When it gets here I'll post a better photo if anyone still wants one. Not sure what to do with that comp. Trim it or replace it. The gun a cheap old school STI based open gun that was too good a deal to pass on. (I hope). Chris Yotz
  17. Anyone recognize this comp? Who made it and when? I've tried searching here and on Google generally and can't come up with any info. Thanks, Chris
  18. Listen to the above. When practicing don't worry about the par time. Just go off the beep of a timer. Work on only doing what you have to do rather than trying to go fast. This will get your time down without trying or rushing the shots. Prep the trigger on each shot. Not only take up the slack but put half the pressure on the trigger required for it to break. Pause for a tiny fraction of a second to confirm sight picture and then finish the squeeze. If you want to shoot prone then find the prone position that works and then make sure you can get to that position quickly every time. I wouldn't worry about prone for a while. Work on the above till you are consistent and use prone for the last tiny bit of points. My 2 cents, Chris
  19. As stated above, some barrels have a larger bore than .355". My STI trubor barrel slugged out at .3555". Standard size bullets of .355" are not accurate at minor power factor in that barrel. I run .357" zero bullets and get great accuracy out of that barrel. I recommend that you slug your barrel to find out what size it really is and then test from there. Chris Yotz
  20. I don't know if you are still watching your thread. But, I used a Schumann in my first Bianchi gun shooting 9mm minor. I found that bullet diameter and velocity mattered more than length, powder or anything else. I believe even Schumann recommended bullets .356" or greater. Also, I found that for my gain twist barrel I had to run 115 grain bullets at leash 1250 fps to get accuracy. Below that speed they were a shotgun pattern. Above that and they grouped nicely. I would slug your barrel or just go with oversize bullets anyway. Chris
  21. I have a suggestion for a change at the Bianchi Cup: Sell the name to Midway and then Larry can hire Tom to run the Cup the right way. Chris
  22. According to the 2015 event guide it listed her for the previous high score. Chris
  23. It is too bad that there isn't more coverage for setting a new record score. Hopefully, there will be an NRA magazine article about the Cup that will say something about it. Chris
  24. Clean shooters go on past the 48 shots to shoot for high x count to see who wins the stage. Chris
