  1. Thanks RS. At least we got that point out of the way. I would be happy as a clam if we went to this rule. See how it is different from the current? I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I don't support any rules that are more restrictive than the current. You make some good points, but any time we lose equipment to rules is a dark day. See you on the range.
  2. Oh, and if it makes a difference I am loading out of 4 round CCW holders. Thanks!
  3. Okay, I have seen the light and since the end of 2004 I have been loading weak hand style exclusively, ala Colorado-style (Thanks Kurt!). Now I have a new problem. During practice, everytime I fumble a shell it is ALWAYS the #3 shell in my hand. Usually it goes shooting straight up into the air as I load #1 or #2. Is this a known problem that someone has conquered, or am I going to have to muddle a fix on my own. Thanks!
  4. That's a good thread with lots of handy info. I believe I will get a case of the Wolf and give it a try. It may be the next best thing. I know I have had good luck with their slugs.
  5. Measured from the end o' the barrel seems to work for mag tube length. However, I don't think the capacity thing is that big of an issue, and certainly isn't a hill I would die trying to conquer. The previous SSMM and RM3G rules had magazine length vs. capacity restrictions - and there were shotgun models besides benellis being used to good effect. If a fella is losing 1+ seconds per round reloading his shotgun, I think more practice is in order. At least that's why I'm practicing. For the question of switching to a Para.....Nah, I like my Fat Free to much to switch. If I was losing a second per reload, I would figure out somewhere else to make it up. I would also interject that those one or 2 rounds can make a difference in stage tactics and MAY save some time....very occasionally, but it could happen. The thing that I would HATE to see is for us to become so obssessed about another shooter having a 1 or 2 round advantage (or 10 or 70 round in the case of the rifle) that we make the division equipment rules so restrictive that only a certain type of firearm is needed to compete, ala the way some other folks done with their organizations. Innovation is key in competition, and I think that tactical is great the way that it currently is. I know open is the traditional playground for innovation, but I think we may be able to work out some equipment issues in competition that may help the LE or Mil. communities in real life. I also believe those innovations will PROBABLY come from tactical division. I could be all wet on the above. Who knows. All I really know is that I have more time to shoot this year and will be out on the range following whatever equipment rules are in place for the 3 gun game that I am playing....and having a ball as I do it.
  6. I believe that different pistols can fit more rounds into 140 mm than my STI, but I certainly don't feel that I have to buy them to be competitive. I agree with the above poster that stated we should go with a magazine length restriction. But then again, I shoot a Benelli. I am against MORE restrictions to Tactical Division. "Nough said on that. I do agree that higher point values may be needed to make flippers viable. P.S. There is a gentleman on the USPSA website advertising Beta mags that will have them in stock next week, if you need one.
  7. Hi Richard, I've started using the Federal Heavy Field Load #6s from Wally World for steel. It puts it down with authority and it's cheap and reliable. I'm using an IC with a 21" Benelli.
  8. My new favorite: Blade-Tech with tec-lok. I now have one for my Fat Free 6". It works well.
  9. I am planning on using a Young Manufacturing riser that I won off a prize table and Leupold med. prw rings to mount my scope. Should hopefully work okay.
  10. I have my new prodiamond scope 1.5-5x20 sitting in front of me as I type this. I will be going into a set of Leupold PRW medium height rings on top of an accuracy speaks riser. I will post some pics when I get it set up.
  11. Terrible news. I shot with Steve several times when he was here in Kansas. He will be missed.
  12. Got to see Bronco's scope at the 3-gun match today. It is AWESOME! If I could afford it, I would have one. Very clear, 2-eye open scope with a good reticle. It also seemed to work VERY well for Keith during the match.
  13. Damn. I'll keep an eye out up here.
  14. Kelly, Mayhaps we can compare them side-by-side in San Angelo or Raton this year.
  15. I had the mods performed on an M1 field that I already owned. I can't recall exactly how much the work ran. I'm sure Benny would be glad to quote you a price if you called or e-mailed him. HTH.
  16. This thread has pumped me up as well. Heck, I've even been talking about it with some of my non-shooting friends ( they have no idea what an El-Prez is ). I've been dry firing, reloading (1200 rd. of production ammo last weekend), and preparing to start shooting matches every weekend. Godd luck Jake and Steve. Thanks for the inspiration!!
  17. Bruce, Let me start off by saying I appreciate the job you are doing (which is probably often thankless) and can appreciate how difficult it can be to make a set of rules that most folks are happy with. -- should .223 make major? - Nope -- should we try TimePlus or some other scoring? - Change may be good. Try it and see if it works. -- should we allow grounding of "hot" guns? - YES, DEFINITELY! -- should we allow any target to be shot with any gun? - YES, DEFINITELY! -- what should Iron Man / Heavy Metal be? *Singlestack 45, .308 or larger rifle with a single optic, Pump 12 gauge shotgun. Thanks for the oppurtunity to give some input into this decision making process.
  18. Craig, I would like to know how this works. Having a cursory knowledge () of the conduction system of the heart, I'm not sure how it is possible to not effect it when the skeletal muscle is effected. If we could figure out how to do that in reverse people wouldn't jump when defibrillated. (P.S. Cardiac muscle is not smooth.)

Amen brother. If more people would remember this seemingly simple concept there would be very few complaints about IDPA.
  20. I couldn't agree more with Carlos-The Wolf slugs are good stuff.
  21. I usually get the 100 round value packs from wally world in either Winchester or Federal. They seem to work well and are pretty cheap (100 for around $15).
  22. I run a Heinie slant pro rear and a dawson fiber front. It works well. As mentioned above, find out what YOU like and shoot the heck out of them.
