  1. Are the two biggest things keeping me from improving.

Fear of shooting like the shooter that I currently am.

Pride, because I think Im a better shooter than I am.

Why is it so hard to stay within my capabilities?

I dont want to make excuses for my performances and pretend Im a better shooter.

-this is thinking aloud more than anything else.

  2. They need to be tig welded if you want them to hold up.

All of the quality double stack mags for Para and S_I are two piece, cracking them when reshaping them isn't all that uncommon.

    Yes they are polished stainless;

-and thanks hsmith, its reassuring that they occasionally crack; I try hard not to be a hack.

Good news is that 4 of 6 are tuned and working well.

  3. I purchased some SPS for para mags off of the classifieds and all of them were way too big, from front to back. I had to squeeze them down about .012" for them to drop free. The last two I was squeezing and they cracked along their welds in a few spots, not all the way down the mag

I noticed that the sps mags are welded from two separate stampings; and there are both front and back welds. Are S_I mags two piecers too?

I wonder if silver brazing will fill the cracks with sufficient strength?

  4. Ive seen several in gun shops and they look crappy, imo, as far as fit and finish.

Id much rather get into a springfield milspec for the same price. The taurus' extra "custom" parts are cheap knockoffs.

  5. Since I was figuring on $2.80/gal tops for my 3300 mile round trip from Oklahoma City to Missoula; I am now taking applications for stowaways for the trip.

Hopefully I wont have to open up a backrub kiosk at the vendor tent to pay for the trip home.

Any one interested in jumpin on along the way; let me know. Im leaving Sunday afternoon from OKC and shoving off from Missoula on the following Sunday morning.

Chain smokers and the extreme lactose-intolerant need not apply.

  6. Thank goodness for DVRs, had my neighbor record this and just watched it... kinda makes me want an M&P. The Todd Jarrett segment was pretty neat too.

Julie, if you see this: I'm assuming you've had work done on the trigger of your M&P? I've always loved the feel of the gun, but can't get over how hard it is to me to keep the sights still with the stock trigger pull.

The trigger can be worked on, its like night and day, too.

  7. where in the rules does it say that ssd is meant for, or is designed to be run by single stack carry guns?

I hear these arguments about how this magwell would be impossible to conceal, blah, blah...

We have a game, we have a division, we have rules for the division (a box) and now there are complaints about the "spirit" of the division.

Maybe we should be required to wear a cover garment too, huh?

OH; my vote is for whatever fits in the box is good to go.

  8. Some older paras have the notch about 3/16" lower than what a normal sear spring would use.

Took a small cut off wheel to my para, made another thin slot and now it works on normal springs.

-this is what needs to be done in lieu of calling para up and getting their proprietary sear spring.

why trust the operation of a pistol to a mismatched part, pliers, and a blowtorch?
