  1. whatever do you mean, That Sig 228, I shot at match #1 was as stock as they come.............. I watch & learn, IDPA is pretty gamey at its own level. I didn't hear you telling me how stupid the holster I was using at the first two matches was! I learn slow, but, I am learning,
  2. Is that 43 ounces with or without an unloaded mag in the gun? With an empty mag.... Not sure how good the scale is......
  3. Good advice, I'll check it out, it sits at 43 oz on the old kitchen scale, I'll have to take to work for a more accurate accounting might have to take the guide rod out & take the grips off
  4. So now I have shot three IDPA matches. the first match, I shot a sig 228 in a old safariland paddle holster. the gun never locked back, so I did a lot' of racking reloads! Had fun, decided to keep going......... the second match, I thought I found the perfect pistol, a .38 super wide body I found here...... It also didn't lock back the slide, because the slide stop I used had too much of a dimple. I changed the stop to an unmodified one, tested it, worked good, thought I was all set........................ Went last night, Got a better holster, a gun that goes to slide lock and... Uh oh, they had a box to start stage one, Pistol just fit!, but that was without a magazine in IT. Needless to say, I didn't shot that gun last night. Does anyone know of base pads for Caspian wide bodies that will allow it to fit the box? Just checking, before I start grinding away, they are just a little too long! Anyway, I think I'll stick around IDPA for a while. It is a lot of fun, different , but fun all the same. Heck, I even rejoined IDPA, I joined a long time ago, but never went to a match, they even gave me my old membership number back! Now I have to get qualified
  5. It is true, I got some today! from Tripp they look great. be a few days till I can try them. I feel like I've seen a Unicorn, Bigfoot & Elvis in the same day. Finally 10 round 9MM single stack mags! Thank You
  6. How so? How did they not fit? Why is that not a surprise? Wilson builds primarily 1911s. this part fit 1911's perfectly, but will require fitting (the extended part) to work on Caspian wide body & STI 2011. Since Wilson has little focus on widebodies (except his plastic one), I was not surprised the part did not have the clearence to fit my pistols.
  7. Submitted an E-mail to IDPA HQ on 1/13/08, I'll let you all know PS, I ordered some Wilson (asinoneoftheidpafoundingfatherscompany) extended slide stops, neither fit my Caspian 38 super or my STI .45, not a surprise
  8. Dan, I talking about standard aftermarket extended slide stops here, Not the great ones you make for open USPSA, I would earn a life time FTDR for those! PS. that single stack 9mm Officers model will be just the ticket for IDPA, How's it coming?
  9. Looks & sounds like IDPA is as confused about their own rules as is USPSA. Thanks anyway for your conflicting responses. I'll pose the Q to both IDPA, & USPSA directly, since neither of the rule books seem absolute. If I ever get a direct response, I'll post it !
  10. Tons of USPSA confusion, but, what about IDPA? I checked the rule book, & searched the Forum! WHAT'S THE ANSWER? please help me
  11. Sorry Flex, hate to poke the bear, but....you likely don't go back far enough! Clearly, they could have made & sold REPLACEMENT mag tubes like S_I(s) & others, They decided to leave us high & dry...... I had two full house open caspian high-caps, they made no attempt to go beyond 19 rounds for 9MM/38 super, so we loyal caspian owners quickly found ourselves out gunned, then when the mag ban came... forget it. No mags at all. They make great frames, but they are clearly satisfied with their single stack frame & slide market. Based on the past, if the political wind changes in November, I don't think you can count on them. been there, lived it. JH

    Comp Cleaning

Just have another Comp gun build, It is much easier then cleaning them! seriously, I have had no real built up using jacketed Zero's in my Bedell build race pistols. Have someone check your comp / barrel alignment, maybe you getting "shavings"! How are you groups?, any fliers?
  13. Buy two, you will not be sorry! (my buddy LOPEZ, has Three!) @%$#^! I have two & thinking about more , (I hate to reload too!) 1050
  14. I feel like Columbus! Way back in 2004, I had to wait an outrageous 6 weeks for my 1st Bedell open pistol! the next three were about 6 months! 6 weeks or 6 years, It will be well worth the wait! Get ready for the good stuff!
  15. Even my daughter thought that was cool!
  16. Wiggle heck, where is the HAMMER I always use? It is a brass hammer , of course! It is pretty cool!
  17. So that's how they go together!
  18. Great fun on the "other side", not at all what I expected. Hell, I have so few pistols that are legal for IDPA, I really might try the wheelee gun, In your shadow of course! We will hook up for Dutchess in the spring, see you next month
  19. For those who wondered why I built that iron sighted open gun........................... There you go! Not for IDPA of course, but to transition BACK to IRON sights... (going full circle in my shooting)
  20. It's really against the rules ( Rule C 5, page 9 of IDPA rule book ) No big deal not doing it, actually made think more than pre-program
  21. Well, after just about 20 years of USPSA shooting, I finally did it. I went & shot a local IDPA match last night. After the years of bitchin' about the rules, I found out my impressions were all wrong, this was a lot of FUN! A small club in Bridgeport, CT had a great bunch of guys who made the new guy feel welcome. (just like USPSA guys!) They walked me through rule differences, although it was tough not "air gunning" the stages, I had to keep my hands in my pockets! My only regret was I could not stay to shoot the entire match. Started at 6PM, I shot 4 stages until about 8:15, They were going to shoot at least two more.............. Next month I'll be prepared to stay for the whole night. Good times, for any IPSC shooters not sure about this sport, give it a try. I'll be back!
  22. Pete, There's hope for you yet! John's right, more matches are better. Good practice is essential. I'm with John on you being welcome in the squad, since I usually shoot with him. Just be ready for the verbal abuse! I like to think of it as constructive criticism We only mess with people who are getting better than us! ( It's really a compliment to be harassed)
  23. Maybe that's not how you meant to say it, but that worries me. Are you going to quit if you don't get your A card or what? I'm not going to quit if I don't get my A card. I didn't intend it to sound that way. What I'm saying is I'm going to train hard this year and take my shooting seriously for the first time and put in a ton of effort in hopes of earning my A card or better. I love guns and love shooting and now it's time to formulate a game plan to excel in this sport. Watch & read all you can..... But when it gets right down to it. you have to SHOOT! Understand when you take time off for personal reasons, you have to do what you have to do. But the bottom line is trigger match time & major matches equals improvement. You need to study the better & worse shooter to see what to do & what NOT to do! I've watched you shoot, Your welcome in my squad anytime JH
