Always leave the machine in the "UP STROKE" position. The bullet feed "spring" tends to get stretched out, so it may have to be trimmed sooner or later....

Worth repeating, Be a smart shooter, but always follow the rules. You may not win, but you will sleep better.

Here lies the truth. After almost 20 years of shooting USPSA, I've lately been trying IDPA and even shot ICORE. I accept the rules for each organization and enjoy the shooting. It is way more fun to like the shooting & and enjoy the company, then worry about being a "rules lawyer" for any of the disciplines.

That famous NE wheel gunner, Bones, had the crazy idea to shoot two matches in one day. I thought about it a bit and said, why not give it try! We met this AM, went to Westfield MA, where the squads all were gracious enough to let us "play through". 5 excellent stages, A BIG Thanks to all the shooters at Westfield MA! (this with Todd Jarrett present to follow up on a previous days training!) out of there at 11:15 & off to: http://www.icore.org/clubs/watervliet/ in Albany NY to shoot ICORE. Guys & gals, if you own a wheelie, this is the place for you! Great people, who had 5 super ICORE stages ready for all who showed up. This is great fun & you actually have to shoot A's to do well! Now I have tried IDPA & ICORE and can tell you, It's all good!

+1 Inside of 5 yards it is hard not to notice the huge holes appearing on the targets and you can get away without seeing the dot. Beyond that distance you are wasting time looking for holes unless you are willing to drop a lot of points or even a miss. YMMV What he said. close in , use the "force"

Back in ancient times, Soon after fire was discovered, (fire being a .45 single stack pistol & USPSA) Match sticks were soon developed (in this case match sticks were .38 stupid single stack comp guns!). I made B class, then A class with my .38 super single stack . I shot my 1st USPSA nationals in 1990 using my gun built by my pistol plumber Dan Sierpina. (I'm sure I came in last!) Then came the golden age! (think cigarette lighters & blow torches) P-9's, Caspian, McCormick -Tripp (STI-SV for you youngsters) The arms race would make some pistola obsolete before they were delivered. My old friend, my sadly forgotten .38 super sat quietly in the safe, hoping to someday lead a useful life.. I always promised her we would shot some steel, but......................(I suck at steel, so I lied!) Then last Fall, I tried shooting IDPA. Seeing the opportunity, I asked Dan if he could restore her to glory by putting a bushing barrel back in the old girl. (in spite of the 1 degree angle slide cut of the era) Well, I got her back last Sunday & shot it today, redone in 9x21 (what else) she runs like a Champ! Now I have an IDPA & Single stack (minor) pistol. So, recycling is great! If you have, or find an old single stack race gun around, they can be rehabilitated to a useful life! I'll post pics when I can.....

My point is that for what ever reason, the shooting sports seem to be affected by the present economy. For whatever reason, I find it alarming such businesses are closing. As I stated, make your deal if you can, but the little business owner is really feeling the squeeze to make some profit & stay in business right now. If it is a business you would miss if it was gone, support it, if not, don't.....................

+1 the biggest problem is in keeping primers & bullets in the thing!

Bomar, no more Masterblaster . no more Zero's, like unicorns Tripp chrome, soon no more any bullet under a $100 / 1000 quickly passing........ Rest assured, your Fuel & food prices are about to rise, likely way ahead of your income. Be thankful you still have a local gun store! How will it be when they are gone? Make your deal if you can, Support them while, (IF) you can... Nobody complains about gas prices...... at least not enough to have an impact!

So I was reflecting on my first ever pistol today. 29 years ago, I turned 21. In CT, that means your old enough to get a pistol permit. I couldn't wait to get mine! As soon as I did, I headed straight to the local gun shop. The old fellow who ran it, sold me my first pistola! A brand spankin new S&W model 27!, 8 3/8 pinned barrel, presentation case the works! I have no clue why I bought such a horse pistol, but man, it was a beauty! I even bought a big whippin shoulder holster to haul it around in. (I'm thinking Dirty Harry influence!) It would years before I actually learned how to actually shot a pistol with any skill, a few more before I would start to compete........... That wonderful first gun was sold years ago to fund my advance in the shooting sports.... Fast forward to last week, My buddy Dave is in search of a used L frame, which suddenly are as common as unicorns... We visit some gun shops around the state, No L frames for Dave, but I see this most modern version of my old first love. A used 627 8 shot 38/357 4 inch. This thing is mint, I look at it, looks like it was never fired! What do you want for it? I ask, $575 is the price the guy says................... I don't really need it, so Dave & I leave........ All the way home I'm thinking, man that was a great deal! I can't get it out of my head, so back I go a few days later. I have a SIG 239 to trade, nice pistol, I figure to get $350-400 in trade if I'm lucky. I ask the owner what the Sig is worth toward the 627, He looks it over, walks away, comes back, says your Sig & 50 bucks! DEAL says I, I can't fill out the paperwork fast enough! While I'm doing it, some local cops come into the shop to buy stuff, All I can think is they are going to arrest me for stealing the 627! So, 29 years after my first pistol, I got a great deal on the latest version of the original! What goes around may well come around again!
