  1. OK, my car got stolen the morning after a match (no guns left in the car..thank God) but i did leave my duffle with my holster, belt, 3gun gear, knee pads, etc in the back. Anyway, my first priority to get back to shooting is a new belt, holster, mag pouches. I shoot L10 and may move to SS, I like CR speed belts and I used to have a CR speed holster but I want to move to a SS legal rig. I have a blued Valtro that I rather not beat the crap out of with a unlined holster so I need some advice. I would also like a holster that i can cant away from my spare tire. Any words of wisdom on a holster and pouches that will fit on a CR speed belt would be appreciated. As always Thanks in advance for the help GIO
  2. That Burris looks like a good deal as well. I received my Konus yesterday and I am happy with it as well as the quick service from opticsplanet. Took the scope out to the yard and spotted some birds, etc and it is very bright and clear. I will bring it to the range today and kick back a report. This forum has saved me plenty of money by taking the advice of real shooters so i am glad I can contribute. GIO
  3. Glad you thought it was a good deal RAZZ. I have been watching them for awhile and had to pull the trigger at that price. Tired of walking down range or dealing with those "spectator spotters" yelling "high" "low" "left" "right" when I know they can't see s**t. GIO
  4. Just a heads up. If you are looking for a good spotting scope at a decent price check this out. http://www.opticsplanet.net/konus-konuspot...ting-scope.html Konus has been mentioned by many on this forum as a quality product and I think this is as cheap as you will find it. 168.00 to your door. GIO
  5. I have one for sale if you want it. Mounted once..not my thing. Make me an offer. Gio
  6. Yes, but wear a cup when making transitions lest you take a VFG strike to the kiwis. True, True. The bride might not be so understanding after that mishap. gio
  7. Needed to chime in. I received a Grippod http://www.grippod.com/ for my b-day from my lovely and understanding Bride. I had my doubts but it is pretty useful and the combo bipod/vfg is a neat feature. I am by no means a great 3gunner but it seems to make off-hand shooting easier (more stable) and is quick to use as a pod. My club shoots bring what you have and I don't care about being bumped into open class so it works for me. GIO
  8. Anybody seen these http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=76534265 GIO
  9. I need distance corecction and without my glasses all dots "star-up" on me. When I put on my specs they tighten up, same as oncoming headlights.
  10. Can anyone help me with these questions. "Sighting In" IRON SIGHTS: Question #1: When sighting in a gun with iron sights. If the holes are being punched into the target to the right of where you have the sights aligned which way do you move the rear sight. Question #2: If the holes are being punched in the target above where you are aiming which way do you move the rear sight Question #3 when if ever do you adjust the front sight? OPTICS: Question #1: When sighting in a gun with an optical sight (red dot, scope, etc) do you move the dot to the hole or move the hole to the dot. Meaning if the holes are being punched to the right of where you are aiming do you adjust your dot to the left or right. "Hold Over" If you sight a gun in for a given yardage where do you aim to hit that same point when closer or further away from your original sight in distance. SORRY for so many questions these things keep me up at night. GIO
  11. This may sound like a newbie question but...I'm sure the answers could be helpful to many folks. "Sighting In" IRON SIGHTS: Question #1: When sighting in a gun with iron sights. 12. Kind of off topic but... Can you put your own locks on your gun case when flying or do they have to be "TSA" locks and exactly what does that mean? Do you just "show clear" at check in then lock it up and your good untill they arrive or are others opening the case along the way? Thanks GIO
  13. I may be wrong. I know Cogan does some work for the big boys and he is (was) in Florida so I thought it might have been him. Anyway...Great looking equipment, best of luck with it, GIO
  14. Someone in Florida, can't remember the name but it's someone Dave has used forever. To answer the Hard Chrome question, I believe Dawson uses this guy http://www.apwcogan.com/ Mr. Cogan is a great guy and he does Hard Chrome for many gun makers. GIO
  15. Nice looking blaster...good luck with it
  16. Just picked up a Ta-11. Never understood the covered scope thing untill just now. That is some kind of VODOO. I am scanning thru my basement right know seeing things thru a covered scope. maybe its the wild turkey.....Don't worry TA-11 is off of my AR. GIO
  17. I would like to purchase a sVi but i am confused regarding where, how, etc. You see tons of sTi complete factory guns for sale but not so with SV. Are they more of a custom builder or a supplier of frames and slides? Their Web site is kinda lame and has been the same forever and that gunbuilder feature is useless IMHO. Help! and thanks in advance. GIO
  18. Thanks for the advice. Also what PF is Min for knockdown steel (set properly). GIO
  19. Gentleman (?) For a single stack no comp/optics gun for SC and other minor PF games is there any advantage to building a 9mm 1911 over downloading and tuning a .45 1911? the answer may save me 1.5-2k so any help would be appreciated... GIO
  20. Just got a DWM bolt release from shooters connection. Easy, no drill/tap, removable and works great. Put a strip of skate tape on it ready to go. GIO
  21. Thank you for all the great advice. I guess what it comes down to is; there are just too many fun games that involve throwing lead in the air. I also have an expensive Sporting Clays habit. I am going to hit the PSA shootout www.psashootout.com and the Speed on steel match in Old Bridge, NJ and get a better feel for it. I'll bring my Valtro 1911 I use for L10 and give it a go. THANKS AGAIN
  22. Thanks for the advice. I am very lucky to be near Topton PA (home range for Doug K) and a good club in south NJ. Thanks again for the assistance GIO
  23. Can anyone tell me the difference between a competitive gun set-up for USPSA vs Steel Challenge vs Bianchi (NRA action)? I am sure you could get by with a std 1911 .45 for all of the above but... I am considering building an optic gun to try my hand at Steel and NRA action but I would also like to use time to time for some USPSA events. Are the differnces in caliber or single vs double stack, weight, slide length? I was considering major 9 (cheap brass) your thoughts. Any help would be GREATLY apreciated, I would like to get this one right from the get-go considering the investment. Thanks in advance
