  1. Is the match full yet? 3 of us are thinking about shooting it.
  2. You can run a complete upper in a different caliber but you can not run a conversion barrel and be legal in production (simple as that).

    MY new blaster

What tooling is required to cut the Glock slide. I hear it's pretty tuff stuff to cut.

    Dawson ICE

Absolutely (unless you had to modify the frame to install it) I have 2 and they go on and off with no problem.
  5. I'm wondering the same thing. I broke the head off a second plastic guide in a 24 slide yesterday. I found that the head of my metal guide rods were a tad bigger in dia than the spring and it would catch on the slide lock plate. I trimmed down the head of the guide rod smaller than the spring dia. and the slide will go on and hand cycle. I may run a rubber buff on the rod with the slide buff though for testing.
  6. Yeah it is simple physics. You increase the weight of the base and it doesn't move as much under recoil. They shoot very soft and flat. Could probably get them even flatter shooting with lighter moving parts/slide. I have been tinkering with this platform of G35 with CCF frame. I considered the heavy bottom with lightened top (see pics). I think it's a great combo and the sights track very well for me. I am disappointed in the CCF frame with all the problems that keep coming up but I am lucky that my friends and I work through most of them. I realy wanted to build a Limited / Lim 10 gun based on a G24 slide w/CCF but the stock slide beats up the buff and recoil rod too much (broke the head off the plastic guide rod). I either have to lighten the 24 slide (like the 35) or stick to the 35 platform for a while. I'm a little disappointed in the frame but it's too late to turn back now.
  7. "All of the open guns I build have the no movement feature in them, I just have'nt found a shooter to take advantage of it yet." One of the grumpy old guys at a range I shoot at says "I don't shoot one of those dot guns because all the ones I have seen are broken, the damn dot wiggles all over the screen"
  8. JMO. I'm leary of major 9 in my Glock so I have a G35 .40 slide with KKM barrel and comp w/2 barrel port holes (shoots super flat at 172 pf) and a G17 9mm Caspian slide w/KKm barrel and SJC major comp (but minor pf @150) for knock down steel and GSSF. I use a 3 pin lower with SJC magwell, mount and C-more. Is .40, or a Glock, optimum for open, probably not, but it is fun to shoot. (BTW probably going to try a .22 upper as well). pics of the 35 attached none of the 17 yet
  9. When did your friend have this accident?
  10. I don't remember who makes the magwell but the important info is it is a "stock fit" magwell and I had to modify the frame to fit it. In theory any magwell will now fit my frame.
  11. I was bummed at first with my CCF 35 project. The buffer thing is annoying but some of us like to tinker and improve/solve issue we come across. I shot a match with the CCf last weekend and am pretty pleased now. It's still short term but we'll see. There have been plenty of post's about the shock buffs in the past so it shouldn't come as a surprise.
  12. I could be wrong but I believe a 17# spring is a better option. I had a discussion on another board about people springing guns too light (me included). Only time will tell, but running the 17# spring seems to be my answer.
  13. Stock guide rod? What caliber/power factor? What pound spring?
  14. I'm wringing out my middle of the road monster right now. I was a little bummed at first due to the shock buff problem but my friends and I have worked that out pretty well now. I started shooting glocks because it was an inexpensive way to get involved in USPSA. After shooting them I liked their complex simplicity (internal safties, just pull the trigger) but did not enjoy the recoil of .40. I added a heavy ice magwell and it helped but when the CCF stainless frame came out I had to try one. I'm realy starting to enjoy shooting it. Can't wait to get the 24 top-end built so I can try that. It cost me the same amount of money to assemble this gun as it was to buy a new Glock and alot cheaper than a "real" gun.
  15. Slide cycles faster, feels snappier but it settles down on target quicker JMO. High Gear Race Guns Nick
  16. What about removing just the comp? The weight of the comp and maybe the carver mount "stressing" the frame could add to the slide not cycling fully. Do you reload? try hotter ammo. I have a 17 with KKM barrel and comp and I can't find any factory 9mm that will cycle it but 6.6 of HS6 w/a 115 shoots nice. The gun isn't broken in yet so it may slicken up.

    Open Glock

I have taken a file and opened up the hole in the breech face more to where the firing pin falls through the hole with no resistance, but I would contact Caspian. I want to do that instead of going through the hassel of sending it back but where do I get a file that small? I also trimmed the firing pin tip but I'm concerned about breaking it (although I use Federal primers) I'd rather open the hole and get a new firing pin. Thanks.

You had the same problem? Did you speak to anyone in particular? Thanks, Nick

    Open Glock

O.K. So I had a light strike today with my open G17 w/Caspian slide. It looks like my striker hole in the breechface is actually too high. The primers are struck high and when measuring the hole compared to a stock slide it's a few thousanths off. Anybody else have this? Can I shave the bottom of the firing pin so it protrudes enough to reliably strike?
  20. I'm interested in picking up one of those puppies! Do tell. Where can one be had? A friend of mine picked up a spikes upper and loves it, but this looks interesting.
  21. I used a dremel with a cut-off wheel and made a groove on the left and right sides of the striker. (but thats just me)

    G22 problem

This situation happened to a friend of mine at a GSSF match. The gun would fire a few rounds then light strikes. The Glock Armorers replaced alot of the springs and the firing pin cups and channel liner. Test firing and about 1 1/2 hours later they found the locking block had broken.
  23. I have to disagree. (Thread drift)
  24. Thanks No, it is one of my wild ideas that worked Banks I've been looking into doing something like that as well. I wanted to machine a thumb rest out of delrin. I would like it to match the slant of the "grooves" in the SJC mount. Why doesn't SJC offer 1? (hint, hint) (I know John is "busy" lately (thoughts and prayers))
