    rust on CCF

Quick question, Just received a CCF stainless frame that has light surface rust all over it inside and out. If I put it in the vibratory brass cleaner with corn cob do you think it will hurt the frame? Will it remove the rust? Thanks, Nick
  2. Are you going to mount a "mover base" ? The other thing I wondered is if that convertible comp is ridgid enough to use against the barricade. Maybe install spacers between the comp side rails and the dust cover. Just a thought. Any pictures of Jessies gun? Post some of yours when done.
  3. What about one of the SJC convertible comp things on their site? Just mount wings on the side. I don't know anything about the mover base. I saw a short clip of Jesse shooting Bianchi and wondered what gun she was shooting. I'd like to see or hear about the gun she shot.
  4. Does that include new glass and everything? I have an old blue c-more with hazy glass and I realy don't care for the blue color.
  5. What barrel and comp are you using?
  6. Thats the way mine looks exactly. That is the newer SJC mount correct? The early version (which I have 1 of) pute the C-more in the center. The new version puts it to the left.
  7. No problem. Good luck. Post some pic's when done.
  8. I'll have to look at that tonight. I believe I just continued straight down (didn't make the opening bigger front to back) but I will check. I had 2 done (A Caspian 17 slide and a Glock 35 slide) The step is still there. I didn't change the front to back dimension.
  9. For what it is worth I just posted in the "slide material removal" thread. Lightening the slide is what helped my "Dot dip". Of course it's a silly Glock open gun built on a G35 in .40 (my god). I just need to get out there and shoot the darn thing.
  10. Things must not be going well because I haven't received a responce. I have to add, I lightened the slide on my G35 open gun (like the picture of the 24 above) and I think it helped alot. I had the old "dot dip", I had the slide drilled and the recoil pulse is now in my shoulders not my wrists, and the dot stays in the lens. Some fellow shooters thought I was shooting minor ammo. YMMV
  11. I don't have a picture handy but what I did was to mill the ejection port flat. If you look on the inside of the ejection port there is a line where the taper starts, I just milled mine flat to that line. Then the front and rear (or left and right) are just radiused into the bottom flat.
  12. I use 5.0 vvn340 w a 125 Zero jhp oal 1.125. G17 KKM barrel with SJC comp. About 140 PF but it shoots nice and soft and very accurate. I also use the same powder charge w/115 MG jhp but with the kkm barrel and the 115 bullet profile I have to shorten them to 1.10. In the future I am going to switch to 115 for minor steel and use the 125 Zero for major because I can load them with a longer AOL. YMMV
  13. My .02. I started with a 22 shooting minor .40 in production. I loved the quick short little gun, it was a little snappy (as snappy as minor could be) but transitioned well and felt good to handle. I got the bug "longer sight radius I'll have better hits" bought a 35 to shoot production. The gun seemed to transition slow and heavy and it seemed when I was shooting I had to wait for the slide to go back into battery to take the next shot. I kept thinking, I'm going back to the 22 next match it's much faster. I never had better scores than when I shot production with the 35. It seemed slower when shooting but it was faster and better hits on the score sheet. As much shooting as you did over that long weekend may have been too much too fast and fatigue may have set in.
  14. Any pics or a report on how John is making out with the lightened slide? I e-mailed him @ SJC but thought I would ask here as well.
  15. When I first started shooting with a "dot" gun I was following the dot like the bouncing ball "cursor" on the bad sing-a-long show or commercials. It seemed realy slow and it was. Finally at a steel match (PSA) I started snapping my eyes to the next piece of steel and low and behold the dot would come dancing across the steel I was looking at. The amazing thing was when the dot was on the target I would break the shot and move on. At the end of the stage I would look back across the steel targets and they were all down.
  16. Just finished my .22 practice and rimfire steel open gun. Mini mags arrived today so I'll test her out tomorrow or Friday. A picture of my air-soft open gun as well. Still looking for a extended barrel for the airsoft so I can install a "comp" (more of a holster spacer than a comp)
  17. Anybody try a G24 slide on one of the CCF frames? I did but it would break the end off the plastic stock guide rod (the end against the barrel foot) after a few rounds. Maybe too much mass in the slide? Slide lightening maybe?
  18. I used to shoot a G17 in production and a G22 in Lim 10. Like you stated, I liked the quick crisp handling of the shorter guns. In fact, I first started shooting a G35 downloaded in production but felt I was always waitng for the slide to return to battery for the next shot. The gun felt slow and sluggish like I was shooting in slow motion (I did shoot a few stages clean though) but I thought I prefered a "snappier" recoil so I switched to the shorter guns. I sat out last year but decided to shoot again this year. I picked up a G34 and I love the way it shoots. What seemed slow and sluggish to me before now seems controlled and precise. It's like I am watching a video from behind the gun. Now I shoot a G34 in production and G35 in Lim 10. I'm only a C shooter but this has been my experience.
  19. So I live in North East New Jersey and I enjoy a show that is taped near my region (unfortunately). The show is DEA. It was a re-peat but they were searching a house and found a long gun under the bed of the "perp". The agent jumps up, opens the box, looks at the camera and proclaims "It's a Mac 10 machine gun, another illegal assault weapon taken off the street". Well the long gun was in a box and the gun was folded in half (Kel-tech 2000 (or some number)) The perp say's "Dude that's not a machine gun and it's registered in my name I have the receipt" then we cut to a commercial. I like the show, and appreciate the work the agents do, but come on.
  20. Well I decided my CCF 35 would be my obsession for this week so I went back to the post about the extractor. When I took the gun out I noticed the exterior of the extractor had an angled suface and a bump on the side of it. Kind of weird, it looks like the extractor on my G17 and G34 I said. Then I removed the slide plate, and the plastic bearing wasn't black or white it was like grey or green. WTF! I bought this slide used like 5 years ago and never noticed any of this before. I guess I'll order a new .40 extractor and bearing and try that. On a good note my frame shows no sign of battering by the slide but I run my own version of a "bushing" guide rod and a grey frame buff.
  21. I'm putting the finishing touches on my Advantage Arms open replica of my G17 open gun. I figure it would be OK for practice and I plan on shooting Steel Challenge rimfire matches with it. Hopefully it will be together next weekend so I can start ringing it out.
  22. After reading this topic I decided to dig out my CCF G35 and shoot a match in Lim 10 division. I remembered the CCF being a little heavy and I was having a problem getting a 10 round mag to seat with a round in the chamber. I aquired 8 15 round mags over the last few years so I decided to try them (only loaded with 10 rounds) instead of the 10 rounders. During the match the gun didn't seem heavy anymore and it transitioned realy well for me and I had pretty good hit's and no mikes. I did however, have a few issues with failure to extract. It looked like the brass would partially extract, the extracted brass would ride the bullet below (in the mag) then catch on the lip between the brass and bullet of the loaded feeding round and the extracter would slip off. I never had this issue with my G22 using the same mags. After the match I sat down with the mags, the CCF 35 and G22. The first thing is the 8 mags are three different types, 3 have #6 followers, 3 have #8 followers, and 2 are le with a goofy looking follower. So far it seems the CCF is picky about mags and likes the #6 followers best. More testing is in order (or just go back to the Glock frame) but the CCF showed some promise. My buffered guide rod with frame buff even worked well.
  23. Zero 125 JHP 4.8 VV 340 OAL 1.125 shoots sweet out of a KKM barrel with SJC comp on my G17. Around 140 PF for knock down steel. SJC scope mount, C-More w/6 moa dot is the way to go. If the slide to frame fit is decent you won't lose much in accuracy (JMO) I happen to have a Caspian slide so the fit is pretty good. Haven't loaded any major ammo yet because I have a .40 open top end for that (not that I shoot open but started shooting steel and the dot is fun). I prefer the light SJC magwell on an open gun. A spring change, at most, should allow you to shoot minor and major. People tend to spring a gun to light with major pf. With the SJC scope mount you have to drill holes in the frame in case you didn't know. Also, watch the KKM barrel for a short chamber. I bought mine many moons ago so they may have fixed that.
  24. I thought this had something to do with bringing pets to the range
  25. I have +0 from Glockmeister. Just be careful dropping full mags on a concrete floor (not that you should be dropping full mags, but it happens )
