  1. excellent design sir. Do you need specific stick length such that the entire thing won't lose balance after the activation?
  2. I use the Gofastdontsuck dry fire swinger, nice stuff and allows for different configurations. https://gofastdontsuck.net/swag-store/Dry-Fire-Swinger-p297344406.
  3. May I ask what gun did you use for the test? And what is cs powder? Clean Shot?
  4. Yes the 10mm will be slower assuming the same charge. Reason is simple, same charge in larger case volume equals to lower pressure and hence lower velocity.
  5. Was that Matt you were talking about?
  6. Damn, that's some delicious insights I need. Thanks Sir, appreciated.
  7. Well, I care. Without a reference I cannot accurately gauge my performance. Each stage is unique, one way (the best way in my opinion) to assess my performance and looking for opportunities to improve is competing against and analyze someone at the same skill level or higher than myself. This analysis is much more useful when both of us are shooting the same division. Some say that you are your worst enemy, maybe that's true. However, without a reference to compare and contrast, I wouldn't even know what I did or did not do well enough or how I could do better for a certain stage / scenario. What I am looking for are the moments like " damn, I could do the same" "I could be more aggressive here" "i like my approach more because.....", just some examples. In my local matches, the second place in my division (limited) usually comes 20% of not more below me. I want to say, this situation has, to some extent, hindered my rate of progression and my ability to enjoy the sport. Sorry for the rant.
  8. I think it matters at least to me. Here is my situation, I like shooting iron sights. But my local matches have been seeing less and less iron sights shooters. Recently, my local matches on average have 50% if not more people shooting CO. You can't argue that a dot and high cap mags drew the vast majority of new shooters and experienced alike. People who are similar to my skill level pretty much all switched to CO. Now, the only ways to gauge my local match performance are: 1. looking at overall match performance. Which is dumb according to many. I say sometime it works, but often heavily depending on the stage design (number of steels and partials, average target distances, reloading or not). 2. Switch shoot CO, which I am decent but still prefer iron for convenience and ego (lol) 3. Forget about assessing match performance locally and go for Level 2+, only a couple of times a year. Should we make the current CO worse in an attempt to rebalance division participation? Probably not a good idea and difficult to execute (people already spent money to config their 141mm mags). Should we make iron divisions more attractive to retain or even gain some participation? I say yes, below is what I am thinking (of course, these are off the current thread topic). 1. Bump production mag capacity to the same as CO, i.e. 141 mm. So, one mag rule for both "production gun" divisions. 2. Bump limited mag capacity to the same as open, i.e. 170 mm. So, one mag rule for both "race gun" divisions. With that the only specific capacity divisions left will be the classic ones, which I think should be left alone for special flavor.
  9. I think the new Canik rival is a great pick for budget CO setup, like everyone has suggested. I used to have a pair of Canik TP9 SFX, I regret selling them. The rival improved significantly upon already excellent SFX. If I have to pick one thing that I don't like about the Rival, its the trigger reach. With flat trigger, the initial trigger reach is a little too long for my hand size.
  10. PS: I do not rollsize my brass. Just dry tumble then load, probably contributed to the high variations.
  11. Here is the data I got 2 days ago using 5" Atlas Titan, 200 gr Blue RNFP, OAL 1.18 ish, mixed brass, Dillion 40 die set on a XL750. 4.13 gr, average 168 PF, sample size = 10, STDEV = 2.18 PF. 4.17 gr, average 171 PF, sample size = 10, STDEV = 1.9 PF 4.2 gr, average 171 PF, sample size = 9, STDEV = 1.5 PF Compared to my Sport Pistol Load (Major match chrono confirmed) 4.12 gr, average 170 PF, sample size = 5, STDEV = 2.3 PF Conclusion is that Clean Shot performs very similar to Sport Pistol for my setup . If you use sport pistol now, I personally will bump the charge by 0.05 grain to get the same velocity.
  12. Ordered some Clean Shot the other day, gonna try them out. Currently using Sport Pistol, 1.18 OAL, 200gr Blue RNFP, 4.1 gr charge, 170 ish PF. Supposedly Clean shot has the same load formular, since Sport Pistol is so difficult to find at the reasonable price, i am gonna try the clean shot to develop a backup formular
  13. Did you check the alignment of your press? Do you have issues like this with other bullet profiles? One of my friend had the exact issue on his 650, turns out his press was not aligned properly so he told me, got an 1050 and never had the same issue. I personally load 40 with 750, no such issues at all. I use dillion seating die BTW, very good correction capability, no matter now tilted the bullet is (as long as it stays in the case mouth, it always goes in straight.
  14. Agree with you. Hell, its killing limited too.
  15. As long as the loading device is empty, you can leave it on the ground without getting a PE
  16. sorry, did not read the post properly. I thought you need some clarification but I see that you already had the answer.
  17. I believe that in the new rule, you "cannot" sweep your self until your gun is up. 2.2.1.1 Exception: A match Disqualification is not applicable for sweeping of the shooter’s own body below the belt while removing the firearm from the holster or holstering of the firearm, provided that the shooter’s trigger finger is clearly outside of the trigger guard. However, after the muzzle of the firearm is clear of the holster and has rotated up on the draw, sweeping any part of the body is a Disqualification As the underscored verbiage implies, you can now draw and sweep yourself below the belt and not get penalized, standing or sitting.
  18. For the same brand, small rifle is exactly the same as small pistol magnum, identical dimension and cup thickness. The cup is gonna be slightly thicker than small pistol, but most of the shooters I know have little issues with federal brand.
  19. you probably have already confirmed you observation by now. Yes, with heavier gun comes with less felt recoil. However, I do want to point out that felt recoil is not the same thing as sight disturbance. I found 40 does have more sight disturbance than 9 hence, it may took longer to line up a second precise shot. This drawback however can be compensated by using better tuned gun or just better gun in general. Grip angles, grip textures, using grip enhancer or not all will impact your ability to control added recoil from 40 cal. I personally use 200 gr project tile, i found it has the least felt recoil on hand.
  20. Good choice. I shot TSO in 40 cal when I just started shooting in Limited division. In my opinion, shooting major is very different compared to shooting minor in limited. The sight picture requirements are significantly different, major also allows you to make easy trade-offs when it comes to high risk targets. Overall, major offers more options in strategic planning, opens up more opportunities for shooting on the move and shooting sooner. The downside is obvious, more recoil and less mag capacity. With a good gun the first one is almost negligible, but the lowered capacity will certainly impact how you approach the stages (e.g, a 24 round stage or a 22 round stage with high number of steels).
  21. When shooting iron with front sight focus, i cannot do both eyes if the targets are close to each other, too strong of double vision. Guess my right eye only has very slight dominance. But I do use both eyes when targets are within target focus range. When the targets require front sight focus and relatively far apart, I open both eyes during transition and close one for sight picture confirmation.
  22. I think you are not doing anything "wrong" or different. The dot only just magnified your imperfections. Due to the nature of iron sights, you won't be able to capture those slight "dancing" of the gun and therefore the sight picture is perceived to be more stable. In fact, your gun moves constantly and most likely in the same fashion, provided you don't change the way you grip the gun. The only way to reduce the "dancing" of dot (out side of the actual recoil stroke) is improving you grip.
  23. My take on the second part of this drill (from established strong hand grip to acquiring sight picture)is that it relies on two key factors. 1. how fast you bring your gun to the line of sight. 2. how fast you capture an acceptable sight picture. On the surface those two look like they are independent, but in fact they work together. If you try to bring the gun up too fast and not knowing how to smooth out the last coupe of inches in a well controlled manner, it will cost you time to find a good sight picture. Its true for both iron and dot. Except dots are way more forgivable. My trick to assert more control in the process of bring gun up as quick as possible, is, paying more attention on your support/weak arm. making sure that you are not over using your strong arm. Ideally, you want to use even strength from both arm to bring the gun up. However, often I found it is more beneficial to use a bit more of your support arm. Due to the ways your hands supporting the gun differ between strong and weak hands, using the support/weak arm more doesn't disturb the gun during deceleration as much, a more relaxed strong arm allows your focusing more on the manipulation of trigger, such that you may pull the trigger as soon as your brain deems the sight picture acceptable. Hence, making faster and more accurate shot. Hope this makes sense.
  24. Hi Guys just a quick reporting. I got myself some Sport Pistol below are the results A: SP 4.1 gr , 200 gr BlueBullet RNFP, 1.18 OVL, 5 inch Atlas Titan 6 shots Avg PF = 175 B: SP 4.04 gr, 200 gr BlueBullet RNFP, 1.18 OVL, 5 inch Atlas Titan 7 shots Avg PF = 171 Probably go low a little lower to aim for 168 ~ 170 PF. Powder and loads are quite consistent, both group show STDEV less than 2 PF.
