  1. I like what you did to that lifter. The asymmetrical cut looks promising. Do you load righty or lefty?
  2. No support side? Bummer. I will still be practicing it anyways.
  3. Thank you Travis. Looking forward to many hours on my Dillon 550 to get ready for this!
  4. She also had an opportunity to handle the Weatherby and likes it. Pretty much sold her on it. She likes the Green Volt with 24" barrel. Now to find one.
  5. For whatever reason, the Dave's lifter causes more problems than it solves on her shotgun.
  6. Logiztix: I remember you talking about your match, and I wish I could make it, but I can not get any weekend days off at all. At least until January. Hopefully I see you next year! As for 12 gauge, I have put her on a number of different shotguns, and she still likes the 20 gauge. She is not in it to win it, just shoot and have fun. She is comfortable with the 20, and that is where she wants to stay. Maybe one day, but for now, her body tells her 20 gauge.
  7. Openclassterror: Good to know about their customer service, sad about the problem at the NWMGC in Bend. I was CRO on one of those stages. I think the SA-20 (although I thought it was the SA-08...) is where it is at for her. I have looked a lot and that is what I keep coming back to.
  8. Darkosoull13: She absolutely wants absolutely nothing to do with open at all. I tried that route.
  9. Unfortunately Headworked, she is not interested in a Benelli. That was my first choice as that is what I run.
  10. The easy loader fits with some modification. I have one installed. But you can't load easily and she inevitably catches her thumb in it. Maybe I'll have her shoot a 20 gauge Benelli and just see if that'll work for her.
  11. I thought Steoger was an inertia like the Benelli? Am I mistaken?
  12. My wife has begun shooting multigun with me and prefers a 20 gauge gas gun. She has been running a Remington 1100 and hates HATES the loading port. Nothing I can do to fix that loading gate set up. So, I'm searching the internet and trying to find a good option. Also don't want to break the bank. I think I have found the solution in a Mossberg SA-20 with Ghost Ring sights. Any one run one of these? Preferably with a Nordic Components extension.
  13. I have shot multi gun (with DougH above) and did quite well with a 1-4 Trijicon. I've since upgraded to a 1-6 razor hd. Yes expensive, yes heavy. Both trade offs. The new Strike Eagle looks promising, and I will get one for my wife as soon as they are in stock. Get what you can afford, but get one with an excellent warranty. You will dump it in a bucket, or worse, make sure the warranty covers it. Is why I went Vortex.
  14. I am thinking about a 16"barrel and 15" hand guard. Kind of like the look of the longer handguard and 16" barrel seems to be the current trend in my safe.
  15. Besides the "I want" factor, any reason not to use Anderson Manufacturing upper and lowers? Seems to be the most cost effective way to get a receiver set.
  16. I went 18" for the rifle length gas system, but I am rethinking that too. 16" with a mid length gas system.
  17. If you want truly out of the box performance without breaking your bank, the Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor would get my nod. I am an AVID Remington 700 shooter, and would seriously consider buying one for games and serious precision work.
  18. I like Shooter app for android. I have used strelok, vortex, jbm, and a few others. The ones listed pretty much give the same DOPE across the board. I just like the way Shooter is layed out. BUT, no app is going to be perfect. You will need to hit the range and verify your data. Keep track of environmental data as well. I like Density altitude because it takes into consideration a lot of other factors. Kind of like an airplane. It doesn't care if it is 100 or 10,000 feet in altitude, if the Air Density is 5500, it will always act like 5500. Very brief description, and I can expand on that later if you want. Just get out and verify your data before you actually need it!
  19. Never heard of them. Where are they located, and what are you wanting them to do?
  20. To each his own. I would coat the slide because you are machining through the tenifer coating that Glock applies. I would wait and see if you like the contrast between stock lower/ceracoated slide. I like the contrast, just depends on what you want.
  21. TiN is a far better coating for a semi-auto barrel. I have roughly 30,000 through my AET SVI barrel and still looks brand new. The Microslik is great for bolts, but as shown above, can wear quickly, but still maintains a slick feel. Just doesn't look as pretty.
  22. AAC-SD I know it is not the preferred starting point based on stock upgrade, BUT, it does have a 10 twist barrel from the factory. THAT is worth it's weight in gold. Buy an H-S Precision stock and trigger and you are set. Unless you want to run a DBM, then I would recommend against a stock with aluminum bedding block as you will have to cut into it to mount that DBM. What is the end-goal of the rifle? And does it HAVE to be a 308? There are a lot of variables on the table not yet considered. My number is in my signature, and I guide customers into what THEY want.
  23. Sounds like you did just fine. The once fired brass, is it match brass? That is my only concern. A friend of mine bought once fired brass, and turned out it was machine gun fired brass and had a lot of really stretched out brass. Enjoy your shooting! 24. I am looking forward to shooting in this match. Just shot the MRPC Multigun today, and I hope the weather is a bit warmer in June that it was today. Also, less wind. (Range Gods, make this happen!)
  25. X2 on the pawnshops. I just saw a pretty clean Remmy 700 with older model trigger in 270 for $400. Great place to start. Had a laminate stock, scope and 1 piece base. Sell the extra stuff off it for $100-$150, you are into the action, trigger and bottom metal for $250-$300. Get a Rock Creek barrel in your contour and caliber, send it to a good smith (I chose Long Rifles, Inc, but if your friend will do the smithing for free, do that), and you have a great rifle for very little coin. For instance, I started with this: And after some work at Long Rifles, Inc, I have this: Shooting this good during load development:
