  1. I'm looking at expanding the 9mm major spreadsheet I made, to include other major/minor loads. If anyone would like to donate information, please email it to warner@9x23.net I need: type of gun, barrel length/ports, Bullet mfg./weight/type Powder Primer OAL and either a Low/High/Avg velocity or 5+ recorded velocities. Thank you

  4. got a rough estimate of what you're using for silhouette? HS-6 is dirty, but If you run it at high enough pressure it turns out pretty clean. In 9mm anyway.

    The Egret

heh. this may not be an OSHA approved method of loading a bobcat, but hell. it looked pretty well controlled to me.
  6. I can order VV powders online, but to make it worthwhile I gotta order a lot. Not economical for trying out powders. I'm probably going to start with my 9mm major load with HS-6 and work up.
  7. Sorry, should have been more specific. For USPSA Major. Preferably non VV powder as it's hard to get around here, without buying a keg to test it out.
  8. Anyone have any ideas where to start for powder/loads with a 115gr MG bullet? Moving from 9mm to 38 and I'm not sure how to translate all the info I have. I assume a 9mm major load with the same bullet should be a decent starting point for 38 super/SC, but I have been wrong before.
  9. I want a glock frame, that takes glock parts, but accepts STI mags.
  10. Take the round die containers, flip the bottom upside down and it holds turret/pro1k turrets just fine.
  11. Those comps are pretty damned sexy Venry.
  12. http://home.comcast.net/~twarner21609/photo/major9.xls I compiled a lot of the data from the major 9 threads into that there spreadsheet. You can SORT by powder, bullet weight, etc.
  13. I don't always read this forum, send me a PM.
  14. least it looks like you could save it. The X-axis on one of my mills jumps pretty bad if you don't have it half locked while moving it. Jumped on me once, ruined the piece, broke the end mill, AND put a nice notch in my vice jaw. Course, the newest one is probably from the mid 70's. Got 2 with DRO that are a little newer, but I just use those as jig bores, no cross cutting.
  15. if you can't find one, I could probably grind down a .157 A2 or M3 punch to the right length for you. Should work out the same.
  16. I think I might still have a slide stop around somewhere that was broken. Most of em are breaking on the right side, just passed the link. It looks like the lug must be hitting there, but when I cover everything with dychem, nothing shows that it's rubbing. There is a spot on the frame where it looks like the barrel link pin hit though.
  17. just one link. Normally it's the slide stop. But I think that's just because it was the easier part to break. Just figured out now the barrel link pin is too loose and walking and hitting the frame. That might be it. This is the last time I buy a used open gun, from a source I don't know.
  18. ... maybe I'm not done. After I got the gun unjammed, I realized it was the link that was broken. So, if the barrel lugs are fit correctly, what would cause slide stops/links to break right as the barrel is rotating down? I'm running a 10 pound spring with a buffer, about 170-172pf Maybe the slide is too light? I bought it as a used gun, and it ran fine, then all of a sudden I started breaking slide stops left and right. Now, a broken link. Always breaks and locks up at the same point, about 3/8th inch out of battery as the barrel starts to rotate down.
  19. So after breaking how many slide stops, trying to fix the problem, and it continuing. I'm deciding to just get a new barrel/comp. Anyone have any recommendations for a smith? It will be in 9mm, if that matters.
  20. I bought an open gun from a guy KG sponsors, the gunkote flaked off in pretty big pieces. From the comp, slide rails, and anywhere there was any friction. Looks nice, doesn't hold up. IMO
  21. think it would be easier to plug/weld the holes and recut em with a jig bore, then use a drop in kit? I can cut holes wherever, whatever size I want. Tuning a hammer/sear is something I've never done.
  22. use plugs and muffs if you know you've had problems in the past. Going from minor to major 9 is a huge noice/blast difference. Might help to use both while shooting.
