  1. Mind if I add this to my spreadsheet?
  2. I've gone through about 6k 147gr JHP's and not ran into any FMJ's
  3. I had one, thought it was pretty bad, sold it. DA trigger was pretty bad, SA was only moderate. Had some problems feeding WWB and UMC.
  4. I ported a spare barrel on my G34 for an iron sight pin(shaped plate) gun. Also works for cheap compensation on a low end open gun.
  5. I just use four flute carbide endmills, but I lap out the hole a little to smooth out the sides and make cleaning easier. I haven't had any burr problems, but if there is a small burr, a couple rounds will take care of it.
  6. Old threads were 9/16 x 36, new ones are 9/16 x 32. SJC, and Novak, I believe, both make comps that fit the 9/16x32. I'm sure if you asked nicely though, it would be possible to get one threaded to a different pitch.
  7. the pasties tend to fly off en masse when shot in the cold... Last time I shot outdoors it was so cold my glock frame shrunk so I couldn't get my locking block out. Also had a follower on a new mag split right down the center when I loaded it to capacity. If it weren't for work, I'd probably move someplace warmer.
  8. I'm on the mnuspsa mailing list. Got two emails about matches for march, and one about the league. I live in Oakdale, work in Rogers, weekdays in elk river would be hard to make, but I might try one sometime.
  9. I'm already hooked and I haven't shot yet. Anything that gives me an excuse to work on guns is awesome.
  10. So, I joined USPSA, found a local(sorta) club that shoots in the winter. Last months match was cancelled due to sub-zero temps. I figured I now had more time to practice. Spent the last 4 weeks practicing reloads, draws, target aquisition/transition. Got all packed up this morning, and when I went to get directions online. In the calendar listing for today... Rifle and shotgun only. Unfortunetly, I have no suitable rifle or shotgun. What I do have is a new(ish) Glock open gun that I've spent the last 4+ months tweeking and building myself. Words cannot express the @#$%@ I feel this morning. At least there's next month?
  11. it breaks cleaner, but the "feel" is an improvement. If you drop the hammer(striker) once, you'll see why the super-light striker is a benefit.
  12. I just put in an LS titanium striker, maybe it's just me, but the gun sounds way different when dry firing. it does feel way different than the stock striker though.
  13. Here you go Flex. Keep in mind this is my first gun project... It's not always pretty the first time. If I had started with a 17 instead of 17c, I probably would have done the ports differently and done 3 instead of 2.
  14. you have the slug bolted in, and the magwell bolted to the slug, right? I don't know how it could pull off, and filing shouldn't change the mounting angle, unless you filed off the back of the slug, and not the front. I had to file the front of my heavy slug to get it to fit, but I also had to modify my basepads to seat the mags. Stock basepads won't work, Taylor pads need filing. I assume Dawson 140mm pads will work with no mods. Try taking the plastic insert out, and seating a mag that way. If you don't want to reshape your mag extensions, you could always reshape the plastic insert and smooth it out again. I'm still waiting on a white insert for glocks as well. Anyone heard anything on a release time?
  15. You had to use a punch? the adjustable sights that came on my G34 jumped off the slide while I was shooting.
  16. I agree with Joe. It's worth the extra cost to be able to poke through 4 or 5 of the same gun to find the best fit.
  17. I think radically changing the weight of the slide, such as making it out of tungsten, would cause more problems than it solves. Adding a little extra weight by filling in the cutout would add strength and weight, without throwing the whole system too far off it's original design.
  18. John, you ever thought of fitting a piece for the cutout on a 34, welding in and refinishing? I'm not sure where else weight is cut down on a 34, but you could beef it up in the nose some at least.
  19. 13 pound springs on their own don't always fully return the slide to battery. Cutting coils stiffens the spring, adding a little weight to the spring.
  20. the tap is 4-40, and the drill size is either #43 (65% thread) or 3/32(50%) thread. Ideally the #43, but a 3/32 will work.
  21. I don't have my references handy right now, but 3.0 to 3.1gr under a 147gr seems on the light side. If I remember correctly 3.5 is a more common load. When I get home from work I'll poke around and see what I can find. Or do a search here for titegroup and 147gr, should turn up quite a few nice minor loads.
  22. I added some 38 super data I found with a little searching, I'll get more into it later on. Also added sheets for 9x21, 9x23, and .40 major, though I haven't started collecting data on them yet. Select your caliber on the bottom left hand corner of the screen, there are tabs labeled.
  23. I'm looking for anyone who could share 9x21, 9x23, or 38 super major data. Going to work on expanding my major load spreadsheet this weekend. What I need: Bullet, weight, OAL, powder, Avg velocity(high and low helps as well), barrel length (also if any barrel ports) Anyone who would be willing to share their experience/information would be greatly appreciated. I'll keep the spreadsheet updated for everyone's reference as I get more information. http://home.comcast.net/~twarner21609/files/major9.xls If it's easier to copy/paste or attach files to an email, my address is twarner21609@comcast.net Thanks.
  24. I think you can buy direct from S-J customs now too. www.s-j-customs.com
