  1. Its late for that now but I’ll try that in the morning and report back
  2. .421 on the 5 random ones I just sampled
  3. It won’t go into battery if I bump the slide, however if I drop the round directly into the barrel and rack the slide it has no problem feeding the rounds after
  4. Having issues with failure to feed on the first round of any of my magazines. I bought the gun used and just hit the 1k round count on it (for me, there was many rounds through it from previous owner). So now after 1k rounds I am getting Failure to feed issues. I haven't changed anything in my load which was running flawlessly before ( 180 gr bayous loaded to 1.18 OAL). AFAIK the gun has an aftec extractor. So that makes me the think the mags need to be (re?)tuned. See pics in link https://imgur.com/gallery/HE018ns I should also mention that all my rounds pass plunk test with the barrel fine
  5. I talked to CK arms via email and found out the mag release is proprietary so it will not work with a right side mag release. However they did mention that they have seen a mitchell custom mag release work with some fitting
  6. I just read through this, what a great resource. Will be saving for reference
  7. Thanks all will definetly be picking up the undersized die!
  8. I took a break as I was getting frustrated last night and worked on it again this morning with a clear head. It looks like it was my crimp, I backed it out and followed the instructions that came with the the press, and now 90% of my rounds are passing case gauge and all of them are passing plunk.
  9. Hi all, Just started loading .40 this weekend for limited (have a decent amount of experience loading 9mm). My recipe is 180 Gr Bayou's over 4.6 Gr or Alliant Sport Pistol, to an OAL of 1.18 with remington primers and mixed brass. I am coming into an issue where I cannot successfully case gauge any of my loads. I have loaded 50 of them so far and 45 of the plunked in my barrel perfectly. The ones that failed had the same (or close) OAL but the rear of the cartridge would not fit in, similar to the image link below: https://imgur.com/a/fss5xra Any advice would be appreciated
  10. When people shoot with both eyes open on irons is it the same as when you shoot both eyes open with a red dot? I can shoot both eyes open with a red dot perfectly fine, but when doing it with irons my weak eye is about half closed. If I leave it all the way open I can't see my rear sight, but with half closed everything is in perfect focus. I wasn't even really sure it was open until I covered my dominant eye to see what I could with my weak eye! Anyone else Experience this?
  11. I just bought a used FGW 2011 cause the deal was too good pass up instead of waiting to save up more for an atlas. One day I will save up enough for one of these beautiful pieces of equipment. Congratulations on your purchase! I'm sure you will love it
  12. I can't speak if this will wear it down. However I use an 11.5 hammer spring and an 11 lb recoil spring. I am shooting 135 Gr Acme with 3.3 Gr of Aliant Sport pistol with OAL of 1.12". For me the gun cycles flawlessly and the DA pull is very nice at right around 6 lbs. My power factor is right around 128,000. This is at 1650 ft above sea level and with around 20% humidity and 105 F outside.
  13. For me, I found in the class holster placement on the belt is very important. Make sure that you can get a consistent repeatable grip on your beaver tail. The initial grip Nick encouraged us to use was not scooping the gun up by the grip, but to come down on top of it placing the meat between your index finger and thumb into the beaver tail then gripping and pulling up. This can be done at full speed, but again don't push down too hard forcing excess movement and wasting time. Also Nick said he is a big fan of symmetry on the draw, so your weak hand should somewhat mimic your strong hand. Following this you bring your hands together as if you were going to clap at chest level, then push out. Everything in this draw process can be done at full speed with the exception of pushing down for your initial grip, and then slowing down for the final presentation, if that makes sense
  14. I run Acme 135 grain RN with 3.3 Gr of Alliant Sport Pistol 1.12 OAL, with remington primers. My power factor is 127,000. Feels fantastic and is is very affordable
  15. I took a class with Nick Saiti through secret weapon training. He managed to take my draw time from 1.24 seconds to 1.09 seconds by eliminating excess movement. To parrot what everyone else has been saying. A big part of increasing my speed was actually slowing down. After I had my pistol in my strong hand and was pushing out to present, I was pushing too hard, which caused me to over reach and would destabilize my sight picture. I practiced pushing fast at the start and slowing into a more controlled finish in order to obtain sight picture faster with less excess movement caused by too much force. I have since added it to my dry fire routine. What I do is practice my draw in front of my curtain, and try to have my draw finish so that the end of my barrel touches the curtain but doesn't cause any movement in it.
  16. I am! I got to test it out at the range today with some factory ammo and I'm in love. I have the dies and whatnot on the way and am excited to test some lower power ammo through it. Based on advertised for ammo I was using today was around 190k PF so once I develop my own loads it should be gravy
  17. Well I ended up getting a FGW 2011 when browsing the classifieds here cause the deal was too good to pass up. Pic for posterity https://imgur.com/a/4JRcWt9 Regardless thanks for all the input!
  18. Does anyone know if the mag release on these grips can be set up for lefties? I've done some digging and can't find anything. I emailed CK arms but no response yet
  19. Awesome, I will definitely print these out and give them a try.
  20. Thanks Nothing done by either shop, however I did install the floating trigger pin, reduced power trigger return spring, 11.5 lb reduced power hammer spring, 11 lb reduced power recoil spring, and an extended firing pin. All from CGW
  21. I'm not familiar with them, could you fill me in? I usually go to Ben Avery, however I make it down on weekends occasionally, I will look you up when I'm headed that way!
  22. Done by we plead the 2nd in Tempe, AZ. Overall great work
  23. My Shadow 2 with black and orange Lok grips
  24. Seconding this, I have been following it and improvements during live fire have been substantial
  25. Awesome! I have to ask, are either stroked? I see that Akai seems to stroke all their guns but on the Atlas website they advise against stroking a gun built for limited. Do you have any thoughts on this?
