  1. Ran into a new issue today on my EVO. It's a simple fix but frustrating. Especially since the press has only 1500 rounds through it. So, in the middle of running a batch of 500 rounds. The shoulder bolt holding the lever for the primer rod walked its way loose today. When this happened the lever didn't work correctly which resulted in high primers. It had blue loctite on the threads but still walked out. I cleaned the threads with denatured alcohol and reapplied blue loctite. Still not a huge deal but frustrating. Since I have 200 or so rounds I need to pull so I can seat the primer correctly. Just another problem I have experienced with this press. Between this, powder measure and I'm still waiting on my primer rod with weight, that was not packed with press! I've been told twice by M7 that it will be shipped ASAP in the last month! But still nothing! Pic of primers and of bolt after I reinstalled it! 20181214_124606 by , on Flickr 20181214_124611 by , on Flickr
  2. Yes, ejector. The part that is connected to the lower or mag block. With the ar9 sometimes the ejector needs to be bent so the top of the ejector and inside of the ejector is barely touching the bolt. That way it is making positive contact with the empty case and ejecting it properly. The other part of the equation is the extractor. If you dont have enough extractor tension or a bad extractor, you can also get poor case ejection.
  3. Like Clint said. Check to make sure the mag followers are not moving the slide stop at all. I've seen the followers move the slide stop enough to slow the slide down but not enough to lock the slide. If it's not that, then could be mag tuning and/or extractor tension. 8# spring should work just fine whether its variable or standard. I've gone down to 6# without feeding problems with my 2011.
  4. I was having extracting problems with my taccom bolt with qc10 lower. I made sure my extractor was tuned to the bolt but was still getting stove pipe about every range session. I noticed that the bolt extractor was having a hard time holding onto a round. So I replaced the extractor spring with a milspec spring. I also used the I insert and put in a new o ring. The new spring is much stiffer. I only have 200 or so rounds with the new spring but gun ran flawlessly. The bolt now holds onto a round much better. I would also check your ejector to see if its turned to your bolt. If it's not, then that may be part of your issue. Place the bolt on a flat surface with the top in the up position. Start the roll pin from the top with a nylon tipped hammer. Insert ejector and make sure holes line up. While holding ejector in place, keep the bolt on the flat surface. Tap the roll pin through the ejector holes. Then finish with a roll pin punch!
  5. I believe I have the new reworked version. And it just went back for inconsistent throws. Still think there are some bugs to work out!
  6. That's exactly what I was experiencing with mine, .3 inconsistencies and about 100fps ES. It's now on the way back to M7. They have been very responsive. However I feel like they didn't do the proper r&d before releasing the powder throw. Seems like us consumers are doing the r&d for them. I'm confident that they will get it sorted out but it suck that you have to buy a different brand of powder measure just to use your new press! Guess I'm lucky that I already have the hornady measure that I can use until they get the M7 sorted.
  7. Not much help on the automated unit. I have the manual. However the powder measure inconsistencies can be with the manual. I just sent mine in yesterday to get fixed. I learned with my measure, dwell time did not affect the inaccuracy. I tested with giving the powder more time to drop. As in I would pull the handle and let it sit in the bottom of the stroke for multiple seconds before advancing the handle.
  8. Thanks for the suggestions... Nut isnt the problem. The adjuster doesnt move. I do tighten the lock nut with a pair of Knepix. I've read that this has been a problem. So I really pay attention to where the adjuster knob is indexed. Good point with the case being expanded by the powder measure. I did notice that the powder measure is sensitive to case expansion and the powder measure getting a full stroke. This can affect the amount of powder that it dumps. I thought that may have been my problem. So after an hour or so of adjusting the height of powder measure. I still could not get it to throw as much powder if I manually cycle the measure. I have called M7 on the issue. They are looking into it and figuring out how to proceed with getting this sorted out. I also got an answer on a separate ticket I was trying to get a response on. After some apologies I'm feeling better about the purchase. I feel like all of my concerns will be addressed and that M7 wants to get all of the problems with the powder measure sorted out!
  9. Yes, worked for me just fine on the EVO. Not sure if the faster cycling of the automated evo pro will make a difference but it worked great with hand cycling! Actually just tested and loaded up some rounds this morning since my M7 isnt working correctly!
  10. Actually I'm running the manual evo. I tried to go super slow and I'm still not getting the full powder charge that I would get if I manually run the powder drop by hand. Good to hear that Mark 7 wants to make this right. Good thing I can use my hornady as back up until this gets situated!
  11. I will definitely call tomorrow or Tuesday. I did a little more testing and sure enough still around .4 variation. However, if I hand cycle the drop. Meaning, rotate the drum by hand while holding the brass at the funnel. I get .04 variation. Which is just as good as my hornady. I tried both mbf and mark 7 funnel. Nothing changed. I also made sure the linkage was tight and the drum was getting full travel. Must be something between the drum and funnel not lining up or not letting the drum to fully dump! I've noticed that it never goes over the hand cycled load weight. Always under.
  12. I've discovered that my powder throw on my evo is not consistent. First off I do have the "updated powder throw" my press was delivered in the last month. And I making sure the lock nut is tight on the powder charge adjustment knob. I loaded up 2 separate loads. 9mm major with #7 and 9mm pcc with sport pistol. Major load is 10.5 gr and pcc is 3.0gr. With both loads I get about .4gr variations and that's with an average of 10 drops. This is weighed with a gem pro 250. I'v weighed a bunch of drops. But rarely do I get a drop of the weight I want. I thought maybe my scale is acting weird. So I installed my hornady powder throw. With the hornady, I was getting maybe .06gr, so less than a tenth. I loaded up 100round sample of both loads using the Mark 7 and hornady powder throws. With both loads the mark 7 was over 100fps spread, where the hornady was 17 on one and 23 on the other. Also, the accuracy was worse with the mark 7 loads. Has anyone experienced this kind of spread with the mark 7? If so any solution or advice? Almost seems like they need a pistol throw with a smaller diameter piston that adjust the powder charge. Like hornady did with theirs. I'll call tomorrow and see what they say. As I cannot use the mark 7 powder throw. Just not consistent enough. I already have a ticket open from a missing part. But I'm realizing their communication isnt very good and isnt timely at all. I'm starting to regret this purchase!
  13. Try grouping it with the factory recoil spring. I have a gen 5 17. With a 13# recoil spring the slide moves forward about .007" when the trigger breaks. With the factory recoil spring it doesnt move. I've read that with the gen 5 design the recoil spring needs to be stiffer to keep the gun in battery. Now with that said, I tested a 13, 14, 15, and factory. I didn't see any change in accuracy. Pretty much all the same size groups. I ended up with the 13# since it group the best with double tap shots with my load. I do have a 11# but never tested it. But it could be that 11# isnt keeping the gun in battery and accuracy is suffering. So personally I would test with the factory spring! Then go from there!
  14. I do own an Evo. But Mark7 would not approve my forum account after I filled out the sign in process. So I installed/setup the press with no instructions! That's why we have been discussing their system for providing a manual on this forum. I did finally get approval but that was after I figured everything out without their help! And was days later. If they want to use this system, then they need to let new buyers have access to it in a timely manner! I'm sure they will get it figured out (at least i hope so).
  15. I'm all fine for this kind of system. I think it's great that there is one place for accurate up to date information. But the system is useless if you cannot access it!
  16. That's nice! I'm glad they said to go online to register! All they need to do is add a CD with instructions and video and the instructions will be shipped with the product. Hope they get your stuff working. My press does work and with my small sample batch, it works well.
  17. My evo showed up yesterday! So this am I unbox and start assembling! Except there is no installation instructions. Only a note saying to sign up for the forum access which has instructions and videos. Well I signed up early am with a response that an approval email will be sent. Well I'm still waiting for the approval email to get access (yes I checked spam folder). So no installation instructions 12 hours later! This is a first for me and not a good start! I did manage to figure out the install but also learned that they did not include the primer stack plunger and weight. The part that sits on top of the primers and causes the low primer sensor to alert when empty. I did call and opened a ticket. I did receive an email already but it says I need to register to the forums! I already did my part 12 hours ago! I guess this is a little venting and needless to say not a good start. Hopefully this is just a glitch but they really shouldn't restrict the online manual! Guess I shouldn't complain too much, at least mine has finally arrived And I will say overall the machine is nice and well built!
  18. 10.4gr. 115gr Montana Gold JHP. 1.150 coal. Range pickup brass s&b primers. 9mm Right at 175pf flattest load I've come up with. I've tried auto comp, shilouett, hs6, win 572, 3n38 powders and tried 115 coated and 124 bullets. I pair with a 8# variable wolff spring and 10oz slide. Infinity sight tracker barrel 2-3/16 people holes and Cheely titanium comp. This is also the most accurate load I've come up with. Very accurate. 3n38 is probably just about the same but I cannot get the bullets to seat consistently @ 1.150. Plus 3n38 likes to spill while loading and is $$. I can load longer but notice that velocity spread opens up if I load longer. I think it's due to neck tension or lack of. Only problem I have is that #7 is dirty. Probably the dirtiest powder I've tried. But I clean often so it doesnt give me problems!
  19. Just got off the phone with DAA. My Evolution is on it's way. Should have it Monday!
  20. I have the hornady dryer. No complaints except to timer. So got external timer. 2 hours and brass is dry!
  21. Awsome. Thanks for keeping tabs and keeping us informed!
  22. Hopefully mine is being built as well. I was 5th on DAA list on Sept 10th and called DAA on Tue and they said I was still 5th. No orders were filled since Sept 10th
