Finished about 75% of our planned range construction by November of 2006. We completed the move/reconstruction of the 50 and 100 yrd ranges, two of four pistol bays, and most of the 200 yds range and then had to stop for the winter. The weather in 2006 was not on our side and put us behind several months. In 2007 we are looking to finish the pistol bays and 200 yds range, as well as, add several shelters to keep us out of the sun. There is still a lot to do and we didn't want to host the state match until the ranges were 100% and any bug worked out. Flex, put me on the staff list. Mark

Just because you used a loaded round to set the seating depth does not mean they are actually the same length, in my experience they have not been when I tried this method. You need to measure it with calipers. You also need to purchase and use a case gauge, or at least as someone already suggested try to drop in the chamber. If round fits the case gauge then it should fit the chamber. Custom barrels may have chambers that are smaller then the SAMMI Spec, but it is not the norm. MDA

I watched the show Wednesday. Showed Julie breaking down a stage at the 06 Production Nationals at USSA. She then proceeded to shoot the stage just like she broke it down. Truly eye opening stuff. Can’t wait for the next show. MDA

Yes, this club does setup challenging stages. BUT, in doing so they some times fail to follow the basic stage design rules as setup by USPSA and this is the end result. I shot the this stage at the same match and did not see any advantage to skipping a reload, you had two ports but had to move to three different positions to see all the targets. You had to move anyway so the reload would have not taken any extra time. 1 procedural for failure to follow written stage procedure, no misses as two scoring shots on each target. MDA

Well, the club is affilated with USPA at this time, but management has changed over the summer. I do not think that they will reaffilate in Feb.

I think this has to do with an incident at the 2004 nationals at Berry where a complaint was filed by a competitor against a range official. The range official had NROI credentials revoked and then showed up at the 2005 nationals at Berry and caused additional problems, Law suits, restraining orders ect. Hence the termination of their membership. opps!!! Flex answered also. Flex please feel free to delete if you wish. I left out most of the details.

Blue moon is a pretty good US made wheat beer, though like some have stated you do get a bad one every once in a while, all depends on how fresh it is. I can also do without the fruit in it. MDA

I do not think there is a junior membership. Since you are already a member then go for the associate membership which is just without front site mag. You should also check out the junior USPSA website www.uspsa-juniors.org. There is a link there in which you can register him in the junior program. Check out the junior camp info and other stuff just for juniors. MDA

Boo +1 what Flex said I just purchased an Airsoft pistol. These things are freaking unbelivable in how accurate and realistic they are. I can use in the house and at 10 feet on 8 inch square paper target I can pratice transitions to each corner section of the paper and get my hits. But, you still have to do what Flex stated or else you will miss. At only about $125 for gun, gas, and pellets. Do a search of this site form addational information on arisoft for pratice. MDA

Dan THe 45 cal. XD will not be legal for production until Jan. 07 due to the requirement that they be in production for one year with a at least 500 being made. The 500 made is done so it must wait one year to be legal in production. See the newest Frontsite for the artical that covers this topic. MDA

1) Are there any criteria I should be looking at when choosing one of the seven clubs that come up on my club search? Distance is important, but what other things should I be looking for? I would attend the matches of the ones close to you. Meet the members at each club and find out what each has to offer. Join the club you feel most comfortable shooting at and offers the most of the type of shooting you do. You can alway attend just the matches of the other clubs. 2) I currently own two handguns that would be suitable for competition, a Springfield loaded 1911, and a XD-45. I am still learning about the divisions, but I am looking at Limited-10 and Production (has the XD-45 been approved for production yet?) Is there any reason I cannot shoot both? Or is it better to pick one and stick with it? Is one better to start with? Either one would be good. The 1911 could be shoot in Single Stack or limited 10, and the XD could be shoot in limited 10 or production. 3) I am concerned about the cost of shooting .45. I am considering reloading, but I am not sure I can make the time. I was thinking of getting a 9mm to compete with instead (like I need a reason to buy a new gun ) Are there any advantages or disadvantages to starting with a smaller caliber and then moving to a larger one later? If you do not reload then the 45 can get expensive. If you reload 45 the cost is comparable to buying 9mm. Reloading equipment can be cheaper than a new gun and only take about an hour to reload 200 rounds, faster if you get more advanced reloading equipment. 4) Does anyone compete with the same gun they carry for defense? Bad idea? Good idea? Yes!! This is what production division was basicly created for, and many people carry a 1911 daily. So why not? The old saying is still true, carry what you practice with. Jim I have one of these. At nationals I placed a medium size cooler on the bottom , held in place with a bunge cord, and then my range bag on top of that with another bunge cord. I can still get into the range bag while attached to the cart. Remove bag and I have a seat. The cart folds up to about 3" thick and fits easly in the trunk or behind seat in a truck. Mark

Carina Carina Mono vision thing is to use your normal prescription on your non-dominate eye and a slightly weaker prescription in the dominate eye. You will only back off about 0.25 to 0.5 diopters. This will make the front sight pop into focus when you bring the gun up. If you correct too much in then the targets become to fuzzy. First time I tried it I was amazed at how well I could see the front sight. I had the Robert from Decot Hy-wyd , he has been a nationals the past few years, set me up. He held a correction lens in front of my regular glasses, dominate eye only, while I looked at the sights and target. He would switch different lens until we found one that sharpened the front sight and only makes the target just a little fuzzy. If you over correct the sight will be nice and sharp but the target is very fuzzy. If you have an older pair of glasses that are, a little bit weaker, this is also an option to at least try and see if it works for you. It is best if you can find somwhere local for components to avoid shipping and hazmat fees. Try gun shows if they are in your area. Ask some of the more expernced shooter that you shoot with where they get the supplies. buy in bulk for better deals. I have added what I use and what I pay on average. Bullet 200 gn LSWC 1000 $39 $0.039 Powder 6.4 gn WSF LBS $13 $0.012 Primers WLP 1000 $14 $0.014 $0.065 per bullet $6.47 per 100 I buy about 3000 once use brass a year fpr $55. just save and reload as much as you can. Of course you will have additional expence is brass cleaner medium, polish ect. With reloading you will only save on the cost per bullet, but you will just shoot more still spending the same amount money. Best thing is you can taylor you loads which will be softer to shoot than factor. MDA

While the US does not consider airsofts a gun most poeple will not know the differance. The real issue will be with the compress Air cyclinders. Per TSA rules " No compressed air cyclinders will be allowed unless the cyclinder can be opened and inspected". This has been a real issue with the international style 10 meter air pistol and rifle shooters.

Well how about the following. 5.6.3.2 An initial 8 sample rounds for the chronograph test will be drawn from each competitor at a time and place determined by Match Officials, who may require additional tests of a competitor’s ammunition at any time during the match. 5.6.3.10 The scores of a competitor who, for any reason, fails to pre- sent his firearm for testing at the designated time and location and/or who fails to provide sample rounds for testing whenever requested by a match official, will be removed from the match results. While it does not specifically allow access to a shooters bag it does allow access to the shooters ammo anytime they wish.

Well I can agree that it is better to have everyone start at the same time as Flyin40 stated. For 4 shooters an hour after the start time they should have worked you into the match since they changed the start time. Would have not taken that much time as most likely only missed one stage. Guess you will not be shooting at that club anymore. MDA
