  1. For the .22lr rifle I’d run it stock + the low end Kidd trigger upgrade if you plan to shoot irons. If you want to shoot open and be competitive... and you have the funds... I would personally buy a built gun from Kidd or Tac-Sol. Yes it’s more expensive than building from your stock receiver but by the time you’re done, the price difference will be within a few hundred bucks, and you’ll have a better receiver and warranty from a single source.
  2. I got in within 24 hours. Been exchanging some PM's with Josh. Real good guy!
  3. I've used a hogue overmold and found it to be okay but not amazing. I wouldn't go out of my way to talk you out of it, but I'd certainly lean more towards the Magpul stock if in your position.
  4. Does this have the exact same footprint as a 10/22? Has anybody tried them in aftermarket stocks? Just wondering if it will fit my 10/22 chassis or similar stocks without modification.
  5. Just shot a full match in practice. If it had been for real, I would have ended the day with a personal best on Accelerator and Speed Option, plus enough second bests to give me a best overall time to date. I can't wait for next week's monthly match!!!
  6. I'm unfamiliar with the Brimstone, but if you've used a Hiperfire 24c, I'd say that the entry level Kidd is crisper and has a slightly shorter reset, which is saying a lot given the short reset of the Hiperfire. I've never measured my Kidd's trigger weight but I'd guess that it is in the 2-2.5# zone. The higher end Kidd triggers are not adjustable, but you can order them pre-set for pretty much any weight. I like my triggers in the 2-2.5# zone, for what it's worth.
  7. There’s a part of me that wants to try out the top end Kidd trigger, but his entry model is so good I don’t really see a need as yet. Maybe if I felt one in my hands I’d change my mind.
  8. I really likr my $230 Hiperfire and recommend it to everyone with an AR. Having said that, I like my $85 Kidd trigger even more.
  9. I just joined SnipersHide so I could pick this rep's brain. I guess I can't do anything until an administrator approves me...?
  10. If you've had a gun that works well and recoils the way you like with your 13# spring, I personally wouldn't change the poundage as that will change how the sights track. With as much experience as you have with this gun and load, that would be a downer to have to re-learn your gun. Definitely consider replacing the spring, though, as all springs wear out and they should be replaced periodically anyway. My guess--as others have guessed--is that you got some brass that was fired through a 9 Major, and you've since won the lottery 8 times. Sucks, but it's that or pay for new brass. FWIW, if I'm going to a big match I'll make an effort to use new (or certainly only once fired) brass so something like this doesn't happen... but it still sometimes happens. At my last monthly match I had the exact same thing happen with a friggin' .22lr round. FWIW also, one way to avoid 9mm Major left-overs and still use range pickup brass is to attend and get your brass from a steel match. Trust me, you'll have 9mm galore, and the chances of somebody shooting 9 major on steel is almost zero. There’s still a cgance youll get some as SC and USPSA shooters intermix, but I think the likelihood is significantly reduced.
  11. A Boyds Evolution SS is excellent if you like that type of stock. I switched to the PMACA photoed above and prefer it, but would advise you to verify that your barrel length and suppressor combo will work with the PMACA forearm. I 99% sure you’d be okay but check first.
  12. For iron sights, a longer barrel will give you a longer sight radius, which is good for aiming with irons. For Open, your sight radius becomes a moot point due to the dot, so a shorter barrel will give you a lighter weight and (theoretically) a faster swing. If you're going to shoot the same gun for both (taking the dot on and off depending on the division of the moment) get the longer barrel. Your gun will be more stable for follow up shots due to the heavier weight counteracting recoil/action movement. IMHO, what you'll lose in swing time due to more weight is negligible after traded off for gun stability. Personally, I like my pistols heavy and my rifles light.
  13. If you're referring to the carbon fiber forearm, it is part of the PMACA package with the chassis.
  14. I'm going to check that out-- thanks!
  15. I was able to get ahold of them. Turns out they were having a server problem that just got fixed. Thanks to everybody who assisted! J
  16. Once again, you're insane. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
  17. 1911lvr’s and mine use the same PMACA chassis. Someday mine will have a similarly pretty custom grip. ?
  18. Not sure. The ten rounders are super easy to load though.
  19. I’d strongly recommend getting a bunch of Ruger 10 rounders. They are the most reliable mags you’ll find.
  20. Does anybody have an actual email address that I can use to contact MDT directly with a question? I’m not getting a response using thier web form, but I’ve had issues with web forms not working with other vendors in the past. Would prefer to send a direct email before trying to squeeze a obone call into my work calendar, which isn’t going to happen.
  21. I find that with rifle I can shoot them pretty interchangeably.
  22. An out of the box 10/22 needs a fair amountt of work to get it into fighting shape. This might be an option for someone who just wants to buy a gun and shoot it without doing thier own customization work, and for a lot less money than a “boutique” gun. Just haven’t seen enough of these at the matches to tell if it’s a wise choice.
  23. More good info— thanks! I actually thought the Horis was busy, and I didn’t think about it obscuring misses. Wouldn’t be a concession at all for me to go with a simpler (and less expensive) reticle.
