  1. thanks for thinking of me. Sadly I could not get to it in time before it sold.
  2. I plan on it but until I do, never hurts to try.
  3. Thanks for keeping me in mind. I have been looking at it off and on now for some time. I have had a few people send me messages stating that if I have a low budget that I might want to consider moving up to limited major with something like a glock 35 then later move to a 2011. It really has me thinking a fair amount. Granted i have never been a glock fan and I am looking to trade my Glock 19 as part of a deal for a limited pistol. Maybe I will make a post on the classifieds looking to trade the glock 19 and cash for a limited pistol to see what people have to offer.
  4. Thank you 1stSgt for yours as well. You are correct, it is not the weapon (to an extent) that will make you win (it may aid) it is the shooter which is why I have no issues shooting minor until the time is right.
  5. I cant thank you all enough for the positive and helpful insight on this topic. I have been saving for a while now and will continue to save. While I say that the Atlas Nemises is my dream gun, that will not be a first 2011 haha. I am waiting to come across a good deal on a used 2011 with a few mags to get me started. I have all the time in the world. But if any of you happen to come across any awesome sub $2k deals for a 2011 please let me know! If I can throw in my Glock 19 to help the price down I will be happy to do so! But until them I am going to continue to read the posts hear and keep learning from you all. At times if I find a 2011 that I am interested I will share the link with you all to gain some insight as to what you think since you all are the subject matter experts and I value your opinions and advice. Thank You all again and Semper Fi
  6. Yup I am in in Yuma. The shooting scene here is not bad and we have a good club with solid members (I am probably the youngest member even with being in my 30's haha). I am a single income family but that is by choice as my family comes first. I am not in any rush to get a 2011 set up as I will keep shooting Limited Minor until I find a great deal on a set up. Shooting is my only hobby out here, I never got into boating or off roading thankfully.
  7. I shot production for a long time and still do on occasion, I just enjoy limited. When I decided to start shooting limited I was not going to dump loads of cash into a new setup in hopes that I would enjoy the division when I was able to buy a new grip for my P320 to add a magwell, and other bolt on changes. Now that I have shot limited for 2 years and decided that I enjoy it more than production I am going to make the move to 40 and put production behind me. Maybe because I am a Marine with a lower IQ than most so I have a hard time typing what I am thinking, but I don't see why this is so hard to understand. I feel like I have to keep telling people why I am shooting limited or explain that I am not a new shooter. Or people are just not reading all posts.
  8. That is what I was leading to. I am not sure why Yigal insists on 9mm. I am not a "new shooter" I have been shooting USPSA for years, Limited for the last 2 years with a 9mm to see if I liked the division and I love it so I'm looking to move up to 40. but back to topic here lol
  9. We cant have more than 75 days on the books at anytime and then come each Oct any day past 60 they take from us so there is no way to save up 120 days of leave I also would rather use it then sell it. The pistol will come in time, I have one I have been shooting for 2 years and I will keep shooting it, just curious to see how people got into a 2011
  10. I am interested to hear why you say 9mm is best for limited? I totally disagree which is why I have been saving to move up to a .40
  11. haha. 4 more years and I am done! Nice to know someone else knows where I am coming from, but if I could do it all over again I would not change a thing!
  12. Never said that cost was an issue. I was asking for advice as to other means to get into a double stack platform that I may not be aware of. I also don't find that shooting "constantly drain funds", for me shooting is an investment, it is a means of relaxing from the daily grind, being around others with the same passion etc. I reload all my own ammo, I don't own more guns than I use (so I can save to upgrade to another weapon). Considering that in a typical month I shoot about 1000 rounds to practice, and roughly 300 rounds twice a month at matches, I only spend about $100 to include patch fees and the small amount of powder and primers I use.
  13. Thank you for a alternative. I will look into CZ today and do some reading. I have been seeing a lot of positive reviews about the TSO and never really thought about looking into these. I hate that I live in such a remote area in AZ, I have little to no access to shoot new weapons. Most shooters at my local club shoot Open Division 2011 and I have yet to see a CZ but I for sure going to take this into consideration.
  14. I have never been a glock fan. I own a glock 19 that I am only holding onto as a possible part of a trade for a 2011 to get some money off the asking price. Really it comes to preference but I am tired of polymer pistols. I have even been in contact with some CNC companies to price out the cost of a metal P320 lower.
  15. This is what I am doing now! This is why I did not list a budget that I have, my budget will be determined by how much I have saved at the time that I find a good deal that I can afford. Thanks for the invaluable insight so far, it is great to hear advice like
  16. Before I get into this let me give you all a little background. I have only been shooting USPSA Limited for 2 years. I currently shoot a Sig P320 in 9mm as that is what I had at the time I started. I am an active duty Marine and by no means a subject matter expert which is why I would like to hear from you all and gain some advice. Now to the topic. I have been shooting for many years but Limited for 2. As you all know I am at a total disadvantage shooting 9mm and am always on the hunt for a 40 that I can afford and set the Sig aside for 3 gun. Along with many shooters the Atlas Gunworks Nemesis is my dream pistol and this is where my questions being. Put the Atlas Gunworks aside, is there anyway that someone like myself with a military income can get into a 2011 set up or has this firearm become reserved for those with large amounts of extra cash laying around? I have looked at a caliper conversion for the P320 to 40, I have considered switching to an M&P etc. I am well aware that those options are out there but "IMO" they do not have the same level of third party parts and support, community following and gun smiths with that skill to make the weapon run as flat as many 2011's do. When it comes to "intro" level 2011's really the only option that I have seen is the Rock Island Armory which only comes in 9mm and I have heard some good but many more negative stories about. I was excited to see during Shot Show that STI announced the HAWK 5.0 as the beginners 2011 but sadly only in 9mm at this point. Then when looking at the weapon and considering I would need to order a magwell, adjustable rear sight, barrel (maybe) etc. It seemed that going with a STI Edge would save money in the long run. When considering the cost for a solid 2011, 4 mags, holster, mag pouches is there anyway for someone like myself to get into this setup? I am checking the classifieds every day but 90% of 2011's sold on this site are top of the line and I don't think anyone would accept payment plans haha. How did you all get into your first 2011? Any advice for someone like me? Should I just buy components over time then send them to a gun smith to complete the build? As always thank you all in advance for what I know will be solid information and advice. This site has the most professional and helpful members that I have seen to date.
  17. I went online to start the process to send it back 4 days ago and I have yet to hear from them about sending mine in. Should I keep waiting or contact them?
  18. I fully agree I just want to provide some data that will be beneficial to everyone. I will be taking videos for my own use taking note of my grip and evaluating actual recoil vs perceived recoil. Sadly where I am I do not have anyone to work with on my shooting. Reading this site, driving people nuts with questions and watching videos of myself trying to point out flaws when I have little experience compared to most is about all I have.
  19. Very good and valid question. Honestly there are a few reasons why I am doing this (to continue my education into reloading etc.) but I wanted to do something to help other shooters like myself that are still new to the sport and or reloading. I have spent countless hours researching loads, bullets, powder, recoil spring weights etc etc. I find a little data here and there so I wanted to try and give something back to the community that has been huge in helping me in my development. I plan to post all of my initial Chrono's in the Sig section in hopes that it may help someone out in the future as well I hope that I can get some involvement from other members with adjusting loads, OAL etc and then posting the findings. What I also did not mention is that when I have loads for all these bullet weights narrowed down to meet PF requirements (with a buffer) I am going to produce video's to post showing the recoil so we can compare each load. I have already created a striped background for known distance and I am creating a vice to hold the P320 with the same amount of pressure that I do. With recording even at 60fps I will be able to show and evaluate the recoil of each load. This is the point where I will then adjust the recoil springs and post videos for that. Who knows, maybe no one will care, maybe a lot of people would like to view this information and provide additional tests. The cost for doing this is low, this weekend I am shooting 5 different bullets and each bullet has 5 different reloads (in 0.2gr increments roughly) with 2 different powders. I purchased 100 bullets in each weight for about $8.00 each and will still have 50 more bullets for the next test after this weekend. I think it is a sound investment even if I am the only one getting any benefit out of this but I know many shooters running a P320 that would like to see someone post this level of detail with this many bullet weights.
  20. I was also excited to see this.... until I saw the price, sadly I do not think this product will be that successful with a price of $449-$549. I would have liked to see an integrated extended barrel or something for that price. I love the idea and I would be all over it if it was in the $250-ish range.
  21. A lot of great information here. Thanks to everyone so far. I little off / on topic. I want to double check what I am loading for the chrono this weekend. Since there is very little information out there, can someone recommend the min / max load for Prima V and N320 for the following: 9mm 124 135 145 147 160 I want to keep records of all this information and this is a data point that I have not been able to find with any consistency. None of my loads for this weekend go over 4.0gr I am just trying to develop data.
  22. I agree. The recoil springs will be tested on a separate day after I have to loads dialed in to meet PF
  23. That is a good point. I hand load them so that in my data sheet I keep the grains o list for each PF is accurate and not .1 or .2 off because of the press. Sadly I am still running with a Lee turret press. Trump did not give us military that great of a pay raise for me to afford a Dillon 650 just yet lol
  24. I am setting up to go out and chronograph 2 different powders with 5 different sizes of 9mm coated bullets and 4 different pound recoil springs (lol I know that's a lot). Was courious if you all did anything different from the normal "reloading grind" of your normal load? I am thinking of hand measuring the powder to remove any slight variations in my Lee press. Do you have a set number of rounds you load? I typically load at least 20 of each when testing multipile loads. Do you have anything you do different to ensure to remove all possible variables when reloading? How do you decide on your powder grains (not initial load data) I typically bring a few different loads per powder. For example of my target load is 4.2 I will load 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4. Just seeing if I go way to overboard here. If anyone may be interested in the results let me know and I will post them in a new thread. I will be running Prima V and N320, bullets are all from Bayou in 124, 135, 145, 147 and 160. The pistol is a Sig P320 full size 9mm, stock barrel with 1911 style guide rod and spring. I will be testing 12.5, 14 and 16lb recoil springs.
  25. I was also a big fan of Federal match primers but the local store where I get all my reloading supplies can not get them in anymore. I have switched to CCI and have not had a single issue at all
