  1. I discovered something and I am wondering what your experience is, I got a bunch of reloads from a friend when i bought his gun from him. The bullets didn't seem like they had as much crimp as i am used to putting on my 40's so I took 10 and re crimped them and then shot 10 of each over my chrono. His measured roughly .421 mine .417 on his you can just barely see what looks like a gap (shadow?)between the brass and bullet. Mine is closed tight. When i crono'ed them there was in the neighbor hood of 40 fps difference between the 2 crimps? That got me wondering, is my crimp to tight?
  2. I am printing this for use in our club sponsored practices, now I am mathmatically challenged but if a Gm says 35 seconds anyone have the skills to break that down into M, A B C D?
  3. Ben can you share you skills test results? I would like use it like a classification to try to evaluate trouble areas by percentage!
  4. Ben I would love to use you skills assessment worksheet, I have always been amazed at your ability to analytically break down each individual piece of each movement, any tips on how to increase a higher level of awareness for reflection?

    .40cal Glock Comps

I have 2 sjc comps the minor model and the major model, the major model works well with 135gr bullets.
  9. Yes I verified that in the manual it is just as you said.
  10. SO is there a minimum number? Or no one know off the top of their head?
  11. I have both open guns, depends on what you want to do. The 17 makes a more competitive open gun but you have to load 9mm major which isn't very hard if you do it right. the 17 would be more competitive if your trying to squeeze out every advantage, but a STI is a better open gun. So if you want get every advantage go open sti, if you want an open glock with every advantage go 17. If advantage doesn't matter go with whats cheaper.
  12. I am using 7.1 grains of auto comp i don't remember my OAL but it is shorter than most and I hit 1400 fps 175 pf at area 5 with a montana gold 124 and federal magnum small pistol primers, but only cause that's what I could get. No signs of pressure.
  13. How many matches do you have to host a year to keep you affiliation with USPSA I can't find this information anywhere.
  14. Running through the woods shooting is very cool, the shade would be a nice break for us! We dont have any trees in Iowa!
  15. I have a question about what other clubs do, we are a USPSA sanctioned club and occasionally we allow new shooters wives etc, to use a 22 rimfire pistol if it is the first time they are shooting USPSA style shooting. We explain the equipment requirements etc and use it so they get a feel for what it is all about. My question is do other clubs ever do anything like this and we have a young adult who has very little discretionary money and I borrowed him a complete production set up once and he enjoyed it. His problem is starting out early in his career he is struggling to even buy a couple boxes of factory ammo to borrow equipment to shoot and he doesn't like the idea of borrowing stuff over and over anyway. He has asked if he could shoot the course or as much as he can magazine wise with his 22 pistol and just quit where ever he ends up and not turn in his score sheet. Does anyone let new shooters do something like this?
  16. I have tried them all with a comp 135's are the best by far!
  17. In my opinion its all about money, if you got it and you want to squeeze out every advantage go STI, but if you looking for as much fun as you can as cheap as you can I like the glocks.
  18. Don't know much about them, I have the SJC c-more on the SJC mount, Im not sure how they install it but it isnt for the layman. The Dot is amazing tool to use to hit hard shots compaired to iron sights, i dont think a ported barrel is competitive and if your not really competitive shoot minor with a dot and then you have no recoil and a dot, unless you just have money laying around that you need to spend get your dot going shoot minor for a while and see how you like it. If you find that you don't shoot enough A's and you want to go major buy a comp and barrel and try that out.
  19. It all depends on what you want to get out of it and what you want to spend. The limitations of open 40 is magazine capacity, If that storm lake barrel is a ported barrel it will do very little for recoil control. What is the biggest reason you want to go open is it for the dot? My personal opinion is don't waste your time with a ported barrel. If recoil control is important buy a comp and a barrel if it isn't keep the one you got.I have a SJC open 40 that I have converted back to a limited gun and I have a SJC g-17 9 major that I use for open.
  20. Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/uspsa/public_html/club_services/uploadClassifier.php on line 272 anyone know what that means?
  21. Here's a video of Jake doing a "fast" El Pres....he's a GM. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/761521/3_02_el_presidente/ Ya that's fast! 6 second el-prez is about what I do in production and its B class. Production is all about accuracy, the next important thing is accuracy, followed by accuracy, and then somewhere down the list is speed but its a ways down.
  22. 6 second el prez is pretty good, you may need to look for a special classifier in your area and see if you can get classified sooner but it still takes a little time.
  23. Yeah, probably. And judging by what I have seen from watching ER and Grays Anatomy, I am probably a brain surgeon. -br Now be nice! We all thought something similar but you are not supposed to say it. You tube videos are about the worst way to judge yourself. There is no hit factor only speed. Your original statement automatically made me cringe. There has been a lot of people that think they can do better than they can do until they do it. Some guys on here like Ben Stoegger did come into this sport from IDPA and other disciplines and were and instant hit. But they are absolutely not the norm. I have found that if you put a master class shooter against a good B or C class shooter and video tape them on a average short stage you will be amazed that there isn't always much noticeable difference. I have video tapes showing overlays that proves my point. They look about the same. The difference that you cant see is the video is the hits. All the guys on my video generally shoot about the same time but the master is doing it with all A's and the other guys hits reflect their classes.
